2014 Dodge Ram 3/4-ton 4WD – GAS

2013-2014 Dodge RAM 1-Ton 4WD – Gas

Coldwater, MI—August 29, 2014— BDS Suspension adds to its current lineup of 2″ and 5.5″ lift kits for the 2014 RAM 2500 4WD (Gas) and 2013-2014 RAM 3500 4WD (Gas) trucks with new 4″ radius arm drop and 4-link conversion kits. Designed to improve the ride quality, styling and offroad capability, these new kits are engineered to live up to the ruggedness late model RAM HD owners have come to expect while allowing clearance for up to 37″ tires.

Up front the new RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks feature a coil sprung radius arm setup from the factory. BDS offers both the radius arm drop bracket kits and 4-link conversion systems that utilize a pair of front 4″ progressive rate ProRide coil springs for impressive ride quality and improved performance across all terrains. A heavy duty track bar relocation bracket is used to recenter the axle along with a forged drop pitman arm to correct steering angles. Sway bar relocation brackets and brake line brackets are included along with extended polyurethane bump stops and your choice of BDS-5500 or Fox 2.0 performance shocks. The similarities between the radius arm and 4-link conversion systems ends there. The radius arm kit uses a pair of 1/4″ thick steel radius arm relocation brackets to reposition the factory radius arms and correct suspension geometry and caster at 4″ of lift. These brackets key off the factory radius arm mount in addition to the frame rail for a stout mounting location for the factory radius arms.

The 4-link conversion upgrades the factory radius arms to a 4-link design. Benefits include improved stability, increased wheel travel, and better handling across all terrains. The 4-link design limits caster change to less than 1-degree of change throughout wheel travel for better handling, steering control, and overall driveability. Included are a pair of massive frame-mounted brackets precision welded and engineered to locate the new upper and lower control arms to create the optimal suspension geometry for late model RAM trucks. The 4-link brackets are fabricated from 1/4″ thick steel and wrap around the frame as well as the factory radius arm brackets to create an extremely sturdy mount for the new arms. Removal of the factory radius arm brackets is not required allow the brackets to stay intact to speed up the installation time and make these kits reversible. The upper and lower control arms are built from 2″ OD x 3/16″ wall DOM tubing for the strength to take any abuse you can throw at them. They utilize large 2.5″ OD polyurethane bushings to isolate road vibrations and are formed inward to allow for extra tire clearance while repositioning the front axle slightly forward for increase tire clearance to the backside of the front fenders. These arms are finished in a durable textured black powder coating and use grease fittings for easy servicing.

The rear the RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks differ drastically with a coil sprung multilink setup used on the 2500s and the traditional leaf spring used on the 3500s. For the 2500 trucks, BDS offers the option of either a steel fabricated rear 2.5″ coil spacers or replacement 2.5″ progressive rate coil springs to level the stance and allow you still haul heavy payloads while retaining on-road/off-road capability. Also included on the 2500 kits is a rear track bar bracket, sway bar links, brake one brackets and your choice of shocks. For the 3500s a 3″ rear block is used along with new u-bolts and shocks.

Available Accessories

BDS has a number of accessories available to fit the new 2014 RAM 2500 and 2013-2014 RAM 3500 trucks. Both single and dual steering stabilizer kit are available to meet your on-road and off-road performance needs. Available in 5500-series (white body), 9500-series (brushed stainless body) and Fox 2.0-series, the stabilizers improve drivability by reducing front end shimmy caused by oversized tires and mount above the tie-rod for extra protection when offroad. Stabilizers are available as both an OE replacement single stabilizer and dual kit mounting end-to-end.

BDS also offers a dual front shock hoop kit for a great look and increased dampening capabilities. These hoops are fabricated from 1.75″ x .188″ DOM tubing and reinforced to mount 2 shocks (5500-series or Fox 2.0 shocks available).

BDS offers a heavy duty adjustable front track bar to allow you to dial in the the front axle positioning. Constructed from 1-3/8″ solid steel stock this new adjustable track bar is built to handle on and off-road abuse and uses a 1-3/8″-12 fine threaded pinch bolt design turnbuckle to allow easy tuning to properly recenter the front axle for a range of lift heights. The track bar is formed for proper clearance around critical front end components and features gusseted ends for additional rigidity. The ends utilize high-durometer polyurethane bushings with thick-walled steel sleeves for strength and reliability.

Coldwater, MI—May 28, 2014— BDS Suspension adds to its current RAM HD lineup with 5.5″ lift options for 2013-2014 RAM 3500 4wd gas engine trucks. Available and shipping out now, BDS offers both standard radius arm and 4-link conversion kits to improve the ride, performance and styling of your late model 1-ton RAM and with plenty of clearance for 37″ tires.

Up front, both the radius arm and 4-link systems utilize a pair of 5.5″ progressive rate ProRide coil springs for a great ride and improved performance across all terrains. Due to the unique design of the front spring mounts the coils are left/right side specific. A heavy duty track bar relocation bracket is used to recenter the front axle once lifted as well as a forged drop pitman arm to correct steering angles. Sway bar relocation brackets are used to reposition the front sway bar assembly and the supplied brake line brackets allow for the easy adjustment for the stock lines to be reused with the lift kit. The front driveline angle at 5.5″ of lift causes issues so the kit includes a new transmission crossmember, transfer case indexing ring and billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer to allow the use of the factory drivelines. Out back, the kits include a rear 4.5″ rear block and u-bolt kit for a level to slightly tail high stance along your choice of BDS-5500 or Fox 2.0 performance shocks at all four corners.

Coldwater, MI—June 2, 2014 BDS Suspension now offers a dual front shock mounting system for late model RAM HD trucks. Built for use on lifted 2013-2014 RAM 3500 and 2014 RAM 2500 4wd trucks, this new shock hoop setup allows for the installation of dual front shocks at each corner for improved dampening capability and added control; perfect for dual purpose trucks spending time on road and off the beaten path.
The dual shock hoop is designed to integrate with both 4″ and 6″ BDS radius arm kits and 4-link systems. The hoop is built from 1.75″ x 0.188″ wall DOM tubing with a reinforced mounting tab to tie into both the frame rail and factory upper shock mount for a sturdy mount for the dual shock setup. The brackets are finished in a durable textured black powdercoating with a stainless steel “BDS” badge on the hoop.
The kit requires minor welding to add a support gussets and steering stops. The dual shock hoop accepts both BDS-5500 shocks or Fox 2.0 performance gas shocks. Add the BDS dual shock hoop setup to your late model lifted RAM for improved performance.

As with the widely popular BDS 4-link conversion for ’05-14 Ford Super Duty trucks, this kit converts the factory radius arm suspension to a true 4-link for increased stability, wheel travel, and improved handling across all terrains. The 4-link design limits caster change to less than 1-degree of change throughout wheel travel for better handling, steering control, and overall driveability. The heart of the system are a pair of massive frame-mounted brackets precision welded and engineered to locate the new upper and lower control arms to create the optimal suspension geometry for late model RAM trucks. The 4-link brackets are fabricated from 1/4″ thick steel and wrap around the frame as well as the factory radius arm brackets to create an extremely sturdy mount for the new arms. Removal of the factory radius arm brackets is not required allow the brackets to stay intact to speed up the installation time and make these kits reversible. A heavy duty track bar relocation bracket is included to recenter the front axle once lifted as well as a forged drop pitman arm to correct steering angles. Sway bar relocation brackets are used to reposition the front sway bar assembly and the supplied brake line brackets allow for the easy adjustment for the stock lines to be reused with the lift kit.

With the redesigned front end of these trucks, the 6″ lift requires transmission/transfer case relocation components to allow the front driveshaft to function properly. BDS includes a new laser cut transmission crossmember and adjustable transmission mounting plate to increase clearance. The transfer case is repositioned by way of a supplied indexing ring kit to correct the operating angle of the front driveshaft. (indexing ring available for both 6-bolt and 8-bolt transmissions)

The rear of the truck is lifted via a 5″ block and u-bolt system which provides a level-to-slightly tail high stance. The kit includes your choice of BDS-5500 hydraulic or Fox 2.0 performance shocks to offer a great ride and improved dampening performance. Allowing 37″ tires to be installed, this new 6″ 4-link conversion system is designed to be complete and offer impressive on-road ride quality and off-road capability.

SEMA Trucks: Freedom Fighter turned Big Thug

Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insane over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.

Several years ago we got hooked up with Kelly Fromm, a retired US veteran with an eye for building some amazing rides. Kelly runs the Rev-It-Up for Wounded Warriors Memorial Tour,  a mobile memorial raising awareness and funds for wounded veterans. The tour has featured several vehicles from a 700+ hp Camaro (Veteran 1) and custom widebody ZL1 Camaro, to a ’10 Silverado (Fallen Warrior) and ’12 Chevy Dually (Freedom Fighter) tow rig all decked out with the lasted accessories and far-from-bashful patriotic graphics. With hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for wounded veterans, Kelly’s efforts are making a difference for disabled veterans coming back from oversees. Recently, however, a very unpatriotic and malicious act occurred. Kelly’s dually was vandalized, the graphics keyed and the truck damaged before its scheduled stop at the 2013 SEMA Show. With the show just around the corner, Kelly pulled the vinyl, fixed the body and opted for a fresh coat of cyber gray paint for a stealthy appearance. With the new look, Freedom Fighter became known as Big Thug.

Up front an Iron Cross bumper was installed for added protection. Rigid LEDs and a Warn winch were then installed to improve its recovery and visibility. The grill was swapped out for the RX3 model from RBP. Headlights were converted to Anzo USA projection units and up top a 50” LED light bar was installed. To improve the ground clearance a BDS 6.5” high clearance lift was installed along with Fox 2.0 shocks giving plenty of room to clear 35×12.50×22 Toyo M/Ts mounted up on 22 American Force Independence wheels. Iron Cross steps offer increased protection and make accessing the cab a bit easier. Out back an ARE “Z Series” cap was installed to add plenty of dry storage space and a CargoGlide rack system. Firestone airbags help keep the truck level when towing/hauling heavy loads. Under the hood the stock 6.6L Duramax was given some extra attention from an AEM cold air intake,  Edge Products Evolution CTS tuner, and a custom exhaust system. Inside the cab features Alga leather wrapped seats, a custom 3500-watt MTX stereo system and custom gauges to monitor the trucks vitals.

With the remodel, Big Thug continues to be Kelly’s primary tow rig hitting up events around the country for an amazing cause. The rear of the truck is lifted via a 5″ block and u-bolt system which provides a level-to-slightly tail high stance. The kit includes your choice of BDS-5500 hydraulic or Fox 2.0 performance shocks to offer a great ride and improved dampening performance. This kit allows for 37″ tires to be installed.

Available Accessories

BDS has a number of accessories available to fit the new 2013 RAM 3500 trucks. Both single and dual steering stabilizer kit are available to meet your on-road and off-road performance needs. Available in both 5500-series (white body) and 9500-series (brushed stainless body) the stabilizers improve drivability by reducing front end shimmy caused by oversized tires and mount above the tie-rod for extra protection when offroad. The dual stabilizer kits mount end-to-end with an attractive BDS branded center bracket. In addition to steering stabilizers, BDS offers a heavy duty adjustable front track bar to allow you to dial in the the front axle positioning. Constructed from 1-3/8″ solid steel stock this new adjustable track bar is built to handle on and off-road abuse and uses a 1-3/8″-12 fine threaded pinch bolt design turnbuckle to allow easy tuning to properly recenter the front axle for a range of lift heights. The track bar is formed for proper clearance around critical front end components and features gusseted ends for additional rigidity. The ends utilize high-durometer polyurethane bushings with thick-walled steel sleeves for strength and reliability. Lastly, BDS offers rear traction bar kits to fit the 2013 Ram 3500 trucks. Designed to eliminate axle wrap and keep the rear axle planted during hard acceleration, BDS traction bars are constructed from 1-1/4″ OD tubing and are 100% bolt-on.
