BDS Suspension adds to its lineup of heavy duty upper control arms (UCA) with kits specific to the 2019-2021 GMC Denali 1500 4WD trucks and some Chevy models equipped with ARC "adaptive ride control". Standard in all BDS 6" lift kits for late model trucks with ARC, these UCAs are now available separately as well. These UCAs are designed for improved strength, reliability, styling, and suspension travel over stock. Built from 1-1/2” DOM tubing, these arms are fully welded and gusseted for strength and durability. They use an indexed ball joint cup to correct the ball joint positioning with the BDS 6" lift kit installed (not compatible with BDS 4" lift kits). The frame mounting ends feature durometer-specific rubber bushings for long lasting durability and reduced NVHs. At the other end they utilize premium quality ball joints for smooth, quiet operation and superior corrosion resistance to arms that feature uniballs, poly bushings or heims. These control arms come finished in a durable semi-gloss black powder coat and include a billet aluminum machined ball joint dust cap that can be removed to easily service the greaseable ball joints. They integrate a mounting tab for the factory ABS lines as well as the ARC-sensor mount for an easy install. Lastly a pair of optional weld-in steering stops is supplied if you plan to install these with factory wheels. The control arms come fully assembled for easy install right out of the box.

Based on the popular BDS lift kits for the standard RAM HDs, these kit variants retain full functionality of the factory rear air-ride and on-road comfort while improving offroad capability.

[Radius Arm Kits] Up front these systems use a pair of progressive rate 4" coil springs to provide the extra height and smooth controlled performance in the harshest of terrains. A forged drop pitman arm is supplied to correct steering angles along with a HD bar drop bracket to re-center the front axle. A pair of sway bar drop brackets reposition the OE sway bar along with extended polyurethane bump stops to correctly limit up travel and brake line brackets to allow full droop. To correct the front suspension geometry at the new height a pair of heavy duty replacement radius arms are supplied to bolt in place of the factory arms. These new radius arms are massive upgrade to the factory stamped units, using tubular construction and a lower cam adjustment to dial in front end caster. Also supplied are your choice of BDS NX2 gas shocks or FOX 2.0 performance series IFP gas shocks for improved ride and performance.

At 4" of lift it is critical to correct the front driveline angle to maintain use of the 4WD. To do this BDS Suspension provides a heavy duty replacement transmission crossmember as well as a transfer case indexing ring to reposition the front driveline output to allow use of the factory drivelines. 2" Coilover Systems: These kits are designed to be so much more than just a "leveling kit" offering next level performance and comfort. At the heart of these kits are a pair of precision tuned FOX 2.5 factory race series remote reservoir coilovers preset and ready to perform right out of the box. They feature a smooth bore and honed seamless alloy body, 7/8" hardened steel carbon shaft, Eibach coil springs and black anodized machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounts along with remove reservoirs optional DSC (dual speed compression) adjustment technology built in. Additionally a pair of performance upper control arms (UCAs) are used to improve strength and suspension travel. Built from thick wall 1.5" DOM tubing, these UCAs utilize an indexed ball joint cup to reposition the upper ball joints and allowing more droop travel. These arms come fully assembled right out of the box with high quality greaseable ball joints and rubber bushings for long life, quiet operation and superior corrosion resistance over uniballs and heims. Rounding out these 2" coilover systems are pair of FOX 2.0 performance series IFP gas shocks to compliment the front and complete the package.

4" and 6" Lift Systems: Stepping up to 4" and 6" heights BDS offers complete IFS lift systems designed to correct suspension, steering, and drivetrain geometry with clearance for 35-37" tires. At either height a pair of 1/4" thick laser cut high clearance crossmembers to maximize clearance and provide a solid mounting point for the OE lower control arms. Heavy duty front skid plate system create a rigid subframe while adding protection for vital steering and driveline components. In place of the factory steering knuckles a pair of specially designed ductile iron replacement steering knuckles are supplied to maintain proper steering geometry for ESC system compatibility. These connect to the factory steering linkage with a pair of heavy duty replacement tie rod ends included in the kit. The front differential is repositioned with BDS’s multipoint relocation bracket system to secure the front differential and keep CV axle angles at a minimum. A billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer is also supplied along with longer hardware to allow the reinstallation of the factory driveshaft. Additional ride height on the 4” lifts comes from an easy to install top mounted strut spacer to maintain ride quality and handling characteristics. On the 6” lifts you have the option of a combination top mounted strut spacer and preload spacers designed to not over extend the suspension during droop travel.. Rounding out the front of this kit are a pair of stainless steel braided extended brake line and sway bar relocation brackets.

In the rear of these 4" or 6" kits are a pair of 3" or 5" ProRide dual rate coil springs to lift and level the stance. With the additional ride height the rear suspension geometry is corrected with control arm relocation brackets, a bolt-on rear track bar relocation bracket to recenter the axle, extended length sway bar links to correct operating angle, and bump stop extensions to properly limit up travel. The rear of these kits are rounded out with your choice of specially tuned NX2 nitro series gas shocks or FOX 2.0 IFP performance series gas shocks to offer improved damper performance.

6" Coilover Systems: Building on the BDS lift systems these coilover systems up the ante for next level performance. In place of the factory strut + strut spacer these systems upgrade to FOX 2.5 factory race series coilovers with a remote reservoir for improved damper performance. These coilovers are available with or without the optional DSC (dual speed compression) adjustment built in. These coilovers are preset for the correct lift height right out of the box to provide optimal performance and direct bolt-in replacement for the factory strut assemblies. They feature a smooth bore and honed seamless alloy body, 7/8" hardened steel carbon shaft, Eibach coil springs and black anodized machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounts along with remove reservoirs with mounting brackets. The optional DSC adjustment technology builds on the racing pedigree of the FOX 2.5 remote reservoir coilovers adding easy tuning of the vehicle’s suspension compression dampening to dial in the ideal ride performance to soak up the bumps, both large and small. The DSC has 12 adjustment points for the high-speed compression as well as 10 adjustment points for the low-speed compression allowing you to make large or small changes to further improve your performance for your particular needs. These pair with the 1/4" steel laser cut high clearance crossmembers, the heavy duty front skid plate system and ductile iron steering knuckles to correct suspension and steering geometry. Also included are replacement tie rod ends, front differential relocation brackets, a billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer, stainless steel braided brake line and sway bar relocation brackets. In the rear a pair of 5" ProRide dual rate coil springs to lift and level the stance along with control arm relocation brackets, rear track bar relocation bracket, extended length sway bar links and bump stop extensions along with FOX 2.0 IFP performance series gas shocks to offer improved damper performance. In just 10 weeks, BDS, makers of extreme duty suspension, have completely overhauled a bone stock 2 door Ford Bronco Black Diamond Edition into a mission-ready "half-cab" Bronco pickup. Built with a backwoods fire/rescue theme, the ultra-capable Bronco is designed to help a fire chief or command-lead get on-site quickly. The goal is to assess each situation and build a tactical plan of attack for the team. "Fire Command" as it's been dubbed, is a one-of-a-kind short wheelbase Bronco truck that pays homage to the early Broncos used by many rural fire departments decades ago.

Equipped with the right gear to get the job done, Fire Command is ready for action thanks to suspension upgrades with oversized wheels and tires, dual winches, state-of-the-art comms, emergency lighting, first aid, an assortment of tools, storage, and much much more. Given BDS's reputation and background, it's no surprise this Bronco is outfitted with the latest and greatest BDS and FOX components. Along with the half cab conversion, the "bed" has been fitted with a custom bottom-hinged drop tailgate in place of the swing gate that gains access to a slide-out storage tray. With the deadline of SEMA looming, the build team is starting to feel that all too familiar SEMA crunch as the kick it into high gear to get this build buttoned up and hit the road for Vegas. After weeks of design, development, fabrication, paint and more, parts have gone one and off this build in preparation for final install. On the docket this week, wiring up lights, winches and other accessories, bolting on winch bumpers, finish closing out the cab, installed the rack and add all the accessories to transform this Bronco into the fire/rescue themed Bronco 2Dr truck it was destined to be.

The team at Crawltek Revolution (sister company of BDS) came in to design a set of one-off prototype winch bumpers for front and back. These bumpers maximize approach and departure angles, add strength, add recovery points and just flat out look amazing on this build. Mounted behind them are a pair of Warn VR Evo 10-S winches for recovery duties from either end of the vehicle. For lighting this Bronco is getting an assortment from the lighting pros at Rigid with 360-series red backlit lights on windshield, SR-M series on the rear and rack, and A-series underneath.

To go along with the custom half-top, the build team showed off their skills fabbing up a lower bulkhead to enclose the cab, built a rear bed enclosure, added a custom tonneau cover for dry storage and (to me) the coolest feature, built a custom drop tailgate to allow access to the CargoGlide rear slide out tray to hold all the gear needed. Up top, a Yakima Load Warrior basket was mounted to the tonneau cover for allowing room for more gear and like the fire extinguisher, ARB jack, chainsaw, axe, shovel and more. Around the outside of the rack are more Rigid lights and LED emergency flashers. These flashers can be found all around the vehicle as part of the emergency package that adds a siren and PA system to alert others to move out of the way of this Bronco. All switches are run through the 6 factory upfitter switches for a clean appearance inside the cab. Also inside, the stock seats are getting upgraded with Katzkin 2-tone leather with embroidered headrests. A Garmin Overlander offroad GPS adds to the factory nav screen to help navigate to and from each mission. Under the hood the stock 2.3L gets a more throttle response from a Hypertech module along with some meatier notes compliments of the Ford Performance cat-back exhaust system.
