Power Automedia met up with BDS at the Ford booth at the 2018 SEMA Show to get some insight on #ProjectRangerX. Ford’s booth is definitely one of the best booths at SEMA. The 2019 Ford Ranger is coming to America, and not only did we got our hands on one of the first in the country, but we had the opportunity to  do a complete overhaul on it and have it featured in Ford’s booth.

This build was inspired by adventure. We are offroad enthusiasts and we wanted this truck to reflect that. This truck is awesome right out of the gate both on road and offroad, but we wanted to take it to the next level so that no adventure was out of reach. For full details on #ProjectRangerX check out our blog post on it at https://blog.bds-suspension.com/?p=17021

Its an exciting time in the mid sized truck world as the Ford Ranger returns to the great US of A for 2019. While at the 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, we took some time to visit our favorite 2019 Ford Ranger builds, including our very own, #ProjectRangerX.

Most of these builds were featured in the Ford booth, and almost all of them featured BDS Suspension Systems on them. These lift systems will be making their way into the market in the near future.

You can find more information about the Ford Rangers that were in Ford’s Booth at the Ford 2018 Sema Show Press Release.

Ultra4 Racing is an unlimited, 4-wheel drive, endurance racing challenge that takes place anywhere from the trails of the Hammers, to the barren wasteland of Nevada, to the hills of Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Kentucky. These are some of the baddest and toughest races on the planet. We are proud BDS Suspension‘s sponsored driver and owner of Tilden Motorsports, Kevin Stearns, who finished 3rd in this race that was at the Wild West Motorsports Park over the weekend.

Kevin raced well in this past weekends race. While there were some set backs in the qualifying race, where Stearns had a hand injury, he was still able to come from the back and finish in 6th. In the main event Stearns, again, had a setback where he lost power steering. Stearns continued to push as hard as possible for 4 laps and it paid off as he was able to manage a podium finish.

While watching this race you can really see the toughness of the course. The rock obstacles, the blind jumps, and King Hill, which caused a lot of troubles during the races. These drivers have to have top of the line builds in order to clear some of these obstacles along with being quick to take action and find the best path to get over them.

Again, congratulations Kevin on a job well done. You fought to the end and we were excited to be rooting you on. If you’re attending SEMA be sure to check out the racing rig at our booth.

It’s always a honor when we get a special visitor to our home base here in Coldwater, MI, but this past Friday the excitement radiated throughout the town when a Michigan State Congressman, Tim Walberg, came to visit our facilities.

Tim Walberg is the State Congressman Representative for the 7th District of Michigan. When he heard of how fast Sport Truck USA and its brands -BDS Suspension, JKS Manufacturing, RT Pro UTV, Zone Offroad, and Posi-Lok 4×4, has grown and is projecting to grow he wanted to know more about what we were doing and how he can help to represent companies like ours.

Walberg’s visit also included meeting some of our top leaders within the company:  Mark Meldrum, President, Matt Everline, Director of Operations and Engineering, and Steve Rutz, Controller. These three gentlemen escorted Walberg around and were able to give some great insight on the company.

When Walberg arrived he was briefed on the company with a video of the company’s history. We were able to tour three of our six buildings: the main building, the Research & Development building, and the media building which is still under construction. While down at R&D Walberg got a sneak peak at our SEMA build, he was impressed to say the least.

It is always a great feeling to be recognized by the government. For someone to want to come see the impact that our company has made within our community is something we are proud of and we were honored to be recognized for it.

Check out some photos of the day taken by our very own photographer, Derek Booher.

Hauk Designs has been hard at work on a 6×6 Dodge Truck that they are building for Pitbull Tires to display in their SEMA booth. This vehicle is getting a ’94-’01 RAM 2500 BDS Long Arm kit in the front and Jeep JK rear long arms in the build up.

They have completely tore this thing apart. They took most of the original vehicle off and will not be putting it back on. They kept half the frame and the engine transmission, that’s about it.

Now this is a very cool build, but it did not come so easily. One of the biggest challenges that the crew at Hauk Designs had was figuring out that center axle. The crew tried a few different things from using a two piece drive shaft and double transfer cases, but to be able to drive this thing at highway speeds is not easy. That center axle is a key piece and it has to be done just right for this thing to run properly. Luckily these guys know what their doing. This isn’t the first 6×6 that these guys have done. They built their first one a while back as a request for one of their overseas clients.

Check out Episode 1 and 2 of the build series and keep up on whats new by following Gearwench and Hauk Designs on Facebook.
