Coldwater, MI: The latest addition to BDS Suspension's lineup for the 2017 Ford Super Duty are new 8" 4-link coilover systems allowing Ford owners to take their trucks to new heights with clearance for up to 40" tires. These new 8" 4-link coilover systems join the current 1", 2", 2.5",  4", 6" and 8" lift options offering a wide range of lift systems and accessories to outfit your late model Super Duty These new 8" coilover systems use a heavy duty front 4-link control arm conversion to upgrade the factory stamped steel radius arms for improved strength, handling, and caster control. This setup is based off BDS's tried and true 4-link setup keying off the factory radius arm frame mount and ties into the frame rail and transmission crossmember for an extremely rigid control arm mount. The brackets are build from high strength 1/4" steel, come fully welded and finished in a durable textured black powdercoat with riveted BDS nameplates.  The upper and lower control arms are built from heavy wall 2" OD DOM steel tubing with massive 2-1/2" greaseable  frame mount bushings and reinforced clevis mounts to attach at the axle.

In place of the factory coil springs these system upgrade to a pair of specially tuned FOX 2.5 factory series remote reservoir coilovers to take your Super Duty to the next level. The coilovers feature a smooth bore and honed seamless alloy 2.5" body with threaded exterior for preload adjustment, 7/8" hardened steel carbon shaft, Eibach coil springs, black anodized machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounts and FOX's optional DSC (dual speed compression) adjustment technology built into the remote reservoir. DSC allows for easy adjustment of the vehicle's suspension compression dampening so you can dial in the ideal ride performance to soak up the bumps, both large and small. The DSC has 12 adjustment points for the high speed compression as well as 10 adjustment points for the low speed compression allowing you to make large or small changes to further improve your performance. Adjustments can be made by simply twisting the "blue" high speed and "gold" low speed compression knobs located on the end of the remote reservoir of the FOX 2.5 coilovers. No tools or shop adjustments needed, allowing you to tune the suspension out on the trail. These coilovers come preset right out of the box to provide 8" of lift and are valved for optimal performance with the weight of the 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine. Installation is a breeze using the supplied frame and axle mounting brackets. Paired to these FOX coilovers are a set of auxiliary FOX 2.0 IFP performance gas shocks to mount into the factory location to further enhance damper performance for a smooth ride on any terrain.

For steering correction a forged drop pitman arm and heavy duty track bar relocation bracket are supplied. This brings the drag link angle closer to factory and keeps the steering angles in line with the relocated track bar for improved drivability and a recentered front axle. Also supplied for the front are bump stop extensions to limit suspension compression, sway bar drop brackets to correct the sway bar positioning, replacement NX2 steering stabilizer and extended length braided stainless steel brake lines. The new front driveline design requires correction when installing the 8" lift to retain use of 4WD at any speed. To do this BDS supplies a high strength transfer case indexing ring specific to the 8" systems to rotate the front output of the transfer case down to improve the front driveline operating angle. The indexing ring uses ARP studs and includes new mounting hardware. BDS also supplies a heavy duty replacement transmission crossmember and new transfer case mounting bracket for additional clearance.

In the rear of these 8" systems BDS supplies full replacement Glideride leaf springs to provide full lift height and increased capacity with a built in overload spring. Finishing off the rear of this kit is a rear brake line relocation bracket as well as a pair of matching FOX 2.0 gas shocks to compliment the front setup for all around impressive performance.  These new 8" 4-link systems allow for clearance of 38-40" tires. introAfter months of anticipation the 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks are rolling out and starting to hit the dealership lots for mass consumption. Redesigned from the ground up, the new Super Duty features a stronger chassis, lighter weight, and increased payload. Following suit with the 2015 release of the F150, the Super Duty now touts an aluminum body and and tons of new technology packed in. After a generation of frame flex with a c-channel frame the new 2017 trucks are using a fully boxed frame for increased rigidity. Under the hood the truck is offered with a 6.2L V8 gas, but we all know the majority will opt for the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel putting out 440 HP stock and a monstrous 925 lb/ft of torque. As for styling, some may say (me included) that the new boxy front end and plain body styling is step in the wrong direction from the good looks of the 2011-2016 Super Duty, but you can’t deny its cutting edge for truck technology with tons of new cameras, sensors, and technology packed inside and out.

We’ve been sourcing several trucks and our engineering team has been hard at work developing a variety of suspension lift options for the redesigned 2017 suspension that will be hitting the market in the weeks and months to come. Along with sourcing trucks for new product development, we just picked up our own 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty XLT, crew cab, short bed diesel to join the BDS fleet. This truck will be utilized everything from new product development and testing, towing and show duties, marketing and company promotional efforts over the next couple years. Now this isn’t our first time building a promotional truck, over the years we’ve build some memorable rigs like Project Raider (2015 Chevy 2500), the BDS Colorado (2015 Chevy Colorado), Project Slate (2013 RAM 3500), the BDS F250 (2012 Ford F250), Project KJ (2005 Jeep Liberty Diesel) and plenty of others.  For this 2017 Ford Super Duty we’ve got big plans, and a short deadline. We’ll be building this truck to highlight the new aluminum body and its offroad capability turning our new Super Duty into capable expedition/overlanding prepped rig. With less than 6 weeks till we hit the road for SEMA, the crunch is on to add suspension lift and accessories, wheels and tires, bumpers, lights, recovery gear, performance mods, extra storage and more before we hit the road for Vegas. BDS Suspension is now shipping suspension lifts for the 2016 Ford F250/F350 Super Duty trucks. Available in 1″, 2″, 2.5″, 4″, 6″, and 8″ lift heights, these new kits are designed to improve the performance, functionality, and curb appeal of your late model Ford while retaining the handling characteristics owners have come to expect.

1-2″ Kits: The 1″ and 2″ leveling kits utilize a pair of lower coil spacers to retain the factory ride quality and handling characteristics while allowing for 33″ tires to be installed. 2″ kits include ball joint alignment cams. 2.5″ Radius Arm Kits: This small lift packs a big punch with clearance for up to 35″ tires. Kits include progressive rate Proride coil springs, a heavy duty adjustable track bar and thick-wall gusseted tubular radius arms to correct alignment caster and maximize ground clearance. Ford Super Duty C/O Lift Kits: BDS Suspension adds to its extensive lineup of coilover suspension systems with new 6” Performance Coilover 4-Link Systems for the 2011-2016 Ford F250/F350 Super Duty  4WD diesel trucks. Designed to allow the installation of Fox 2.5 factory series remote reservoir coilovers, this new system far surpasses the performance and capability of your Super Duty’s stock suspension with more stability, improved handling, and better dampening in any terrain. Michigan built and Moab tested, these new coilover conversion 4-link systems are built to perform.

The system utilizes a pair of Fox 2.5 factory series remote coilovers tuned specifically to optimize suspension performance on the diesel equipped Ford Super Duty. The 8″ travel coilovers feature a smooth bore and honed seamless alloy body, 7/8″ hardened steel carbon shaft, Eibach coil springs and black anodized machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounts. The key to mounting these new coilovers are the new mounts supplied by BDS. In place of the factory stamped steel coil buckets BDS includes a pair of the massive 1/4″ thick steel, gusted construction coilover mounting brackets designed to bolt in place using the factory frame holes. This provides a stout mounting point for the new Fox 2.5 coilovers with provisions to mount the remote reservoirs as well as an auxiliary shock for even further dampen capability. The auxiliary shock mount will accept anything from the supplied Fox 2.0 Performance series shocks up to the massive 3.0 Fox Factory series cylinders. At the axle, new double-shear C/O mounting brackets bolt in for a direct replacement to the factory coil seats.  The all brackets are finished in a durable textured black powder coat finish with integrated mounting tabs to retain the factory brake and ABS lines. 

To complement the increased performance of the new coilovers, BDS designed the kit around the popular BDS 4-link conversion to upgrade the stock stamped steel factory radius arms.  The BDS Super Duty 4-Link conversion has long been a go to for 2005-15 Super Duty truck owners looking to improve their trucks drivability and performance.  The full replacement 4-link frame brackets bolt into factory holes and create a solid mounting location for the massive tubular 4-link arms.  These arms allow the front suspension geometry to be optimized for control and handling through all types of terrain. The front portion of the lift system also includes a forged drop pitman arm and front track bar relocation bracket to correct steering and track bar angles as well as to center the axle under the vehicle.  Front bump stop extensions, sway bar drops, and brake line relocation brackets round out the front of this system.  In the rear, full replacement BDS Glideride leaf springs provide the lift needed to level and level the stance. The springs are a 5-leaf design with built in overload leaf to assist when carrying heavy loads. New black e-coated u-bolts, brake line brackets and Fox 2.0 performance gas shocks are supplied to round out the 6″ coilover conversion 4-link system.

6″ C/O Mount – Aux Shock Dimensions: In the front, the BDS.123612 C/O conversion system includes the necessary small hourglass shock bushings/sleeve (EB1 size) to convert eye-to-eye shocks for proper mounting.   A shock with a minimum of 27.75” extended (eye-to-eye) and maximum of 19.75” collapsed length can be used.  The auxiliary mounting position can handle up to a Fox Factory 3.0 cylinder, including standard and reservoir shock options.

We’re in route to the 2015 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, UT and as with any trip heading westward from our Coldwater, MI facilities it has become our standard stop I-80 in Des Moines, Iowa at Twin Peaks to grab some grub on the long haul. I think its safe to say the staff like the BDS F250….

Its down to the wire as the BDS R&D crew does final assembly on the BDS F250 before it hits the road in route to Moab, UT for Easter Jeep Safari. A fresh set of graphics were ordered for a 2-ton charcoal/white color scheme (available to fit your truck in the BDS vehicle wraps section). With the tight deadline approaching Highlander Graphics came in town to install the graphics in our adjacent photo studio while we prepped and painted the modified Fab Fours bumpers to match the theme, charcoal front and white rear. With the Warn M10000 winch and Vision X cannon lighting bolted down the bumpers were hoisted into place on the truck and everything was wired up. The Airlift airbags and Wireless One compressor system was installed using the BDS (prototype) air support system to allow additional towing support without limiting suspension travel. Amp Research power steps were installed to make cab access easier and an Extang revolution tonneau cover was added for extra dry storage in the bed. Final touches up front include a Royalty Core RC2 mesh grill insert that bolts into the factory shell once the OE center is trimmed out. To help keep the gears cool we swapped to a high capacity finned aluminum Nitro rear diff cover. Just a few more things to button up and this truck will be mobile. Stay tuned to see the final outcome!
