King of the Hammers 2012 is a wrap, and BDS Rep Jason Shellhaas made it back from the west coast with plenty of stories to tell… “Well another King of the Hammers (KOH) has come and gone, and with it, a new champion has been crowned. Congrats to Eric Miller on bringing home the crown this year. 2012 marked the 6th running of KOH out in the Johnson Valley SRVA, and BDS Suspension’s first trip out to the lakebed to witness the spectacle first hand. Over the years since its inception, this event has exploded in popularity as big budget builds and backyard creations compete head-to-head on a growling course of wide open desert racing and extreme rock crawling. Murphy’s Law is in effect, but the BDS sponsored race team of Desert Concepts found a way through it. After a nightmare of a week prepping the competition rig and support vehicles, the IFS buggy is mechanically prepped with the body and graphics getting fitted later today before making the short journey out into the desert for King of the Hammers (KOH). Competition starts Friday morning as the competition rigs take to the course to crown this year’s king. Make sure to cheer on JT Stephens and Bryan Grigsby in car #4454. If you’re out in the desert, make sure to stop by ORW’s tent and say hi to BDS Rep Jason Shellhaas.

Over the past couple year there’s been a phenomenon that has taken off-road racing by storm. A mix of high speed desert racing and extreme rock crawling that tested man and machine in ways unlike ever before. 5 years after exploding onto the scene, the event that started it all, the King of the Hammers (KOH), is just 2 short weeks away. Each year KOH brings thousands to the hostile desert terrain of Johnson Valley, CA and converge in what’s known as Hammertown. Part party, part vendor show, part garage, this town is build from nothing each year as over 30,000 come to experience the action. Hammertown is the place to be this week as the King of the Hammers (KOH) rolls into Johnson Valley, California. While Hammertown may not appear on your Google maps, during this week it comes alive with thousands of racers and spectators converging in the Mojave Desert for an amazing spectacle of off-road entertainment. From UTV races to the KOH prepped buggies, this event has grown exponentially since its start 5 years ago into a truly amazing week of racing, vendors show, seminars and more. BDS Suspension has announced its  JEEPSPEED sponsorship of Chase Rather racing.  This is his 4th year racing in the JEEPSPEED series and was named Rookie of the Year. At age 16, Rather is the youngest driver to join the JEEPSPEED circuit, placing 1st at the Henderson 400.  We encourage you to watch and support Chase in his BDS Long Arm equipped Jeep XJ.
