4Runner 3" Lift Kits: The newest addition to the BDS lineup is 3" suspension lift kits for the 2010-2016 Toyota 4Runner 4WD. These new kits improve the look and performance of late model 4Runner with clearance for up to 285/70r17 tires. Based on the current FJ Cruiser systems, this new fitment is up to whatever use and abuse you can throw at it. Up front the system uses a combination top mounted strut spacer along with a preload spacer to lift the vehicle and retain the factory geometry. This setup allows the suspension to operate smoothly without forcing upper ball joints to max out at full droop causing premature wear, a common issue with other 3" kits that just use spacer to provide lift.Â
In the rear this kit replaces the factory coil springs with 2" BDS ProRide coil springs to level the stance. These coil springs are capable of full coil bind from repeated use and abuse and guaranteed to always spring back to original ride height. With the new stance set, BDS 5500-series hydraulic shocks are used to retain the ride quality and allow full articulation of the rear suspension. Lastly the rear sway bar links are replaced with longer links to allow the sway bar to operate in its ideal position with the lift installed. Will this kit work with the xreas?
Hi Truett, we do not list this kit as compatible with the XREAS, reason being the rear shocks are replaced when installing the taller coil springs. For the XREAS to function properly both the front/rear dampers are needed. The XREAS can be removed without causing any issues or lights on the dash, however it’d require you to replace the front struts as well (we don’t offer a replacement strut/coilover option)
Will you his work for 2019 Sr5 2wd 4 runner? Currently I have bilstein 5100 struts and shocks. Would I have to adjust the front strut back at stock level?
Hey Arden, thanks for reaching out and your interest in BDS Suspension. We don’t recommend combining both the Bilstein leveling struts + our top mounted spacer as it will provide too much lift causing suspension, steering, driveline geometry issues. The factory suspension can allow for 3″ of lift w/o needing a more extensive kit. Not knowing where you have the vehicle set currently my recommendation would be since you already have the Bilstein struts installed, set them at 2.5″ front and then use our rear 2″ coil springs and sway bar links to lift the rear.
