After 2 years of faithful service BDS is selling Project Slate, our workhorse 2013 RAM 3500. While its served us valiantly over the last couple years as a show hauler, promo truck, and test mule for new product development and show, its time to let this late model Cummins go and bring on the next project. We bought this truck new back in 2013; one of the RAM HDs equipped with the new radius arm front suspension. It gave us a leg up in the development and first-to-market releases of 2” leveling and 4”, 6”, and 8” suspension lifts for the late model RAMs. In Fall of 2013 the decision was made to transform this into the bad ass show piece it is today. Within 4 short weeks the truck was transformed into Project Slate and shown at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas (watch the buildup videos). After hauling our…

It seems to be tradition now. Each Spring thousands of Jeepers make the journey from around the country and beyond to converge on the quiet town of Moab, UT for a weeklong event that combines trail rides, parties, a 2-day vendor show and raffling off of more than $250,000 in aftermarket goodies. With daily trail rides and events every night, Easter Jeep Safari has become a bucket list event, that thousands check off each year again and again. BDS Suspension made the trip out to run trails, test new products and chat with customers at the 2-day vendor show. With the rigs loaded BDS made the long haul from Michigan to the red rocks of Moab, UT with Project Slate our 2013 Ram 3500 Diesel, Project KJ, our 2005 Liberty CRD, and the BDS Ram 2500 Diesel. The week in Moab was amazing. From catching up with old friends and…

Let me start off by saying BDS Suspension in no way endorses dangerous stunts, breaking laws, and legally need to verbalize you to not try this at home… but what would you do if you had a lunch hour to kill in the middle of winter, keys to a bad ass lifted truck, an old snowboard and tow rope sitting in storage. A couple of the guys from BDS headed out to the BDS R&D shop to try out tow-rope snowboarding with Project Slate, BDS’s 2013 Ram 3500 currently sporting a BDS 6” lift kit and 37s. Check it out…

It was a mad rush to finish up Project Slate. All the little details always seem to take longer than expected and with 3 straight days of rain we can’t exactly say the weather is cooperating. The truck hit the road first thing this morning with trailer in tow as the first group makes their way to sin city for the 2013 SEMA Show. Well Project Slate our 2013 Ram 3500 hit the road for its first shake down run this morning before heading in for fresh graphics and a spray-in bedliner. While there are still a number of things to get installed on this truck (i.e. grill, steps, wiring up compressors and lights), we have a fast approaching deadline to hit the road for Vegas and we had a window to get graphics installed. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days and to see the progress up to this point, check out the build thread at https://blog.bds-suspension.com/?cat=478

The buildup continues as the crew from BDS’s R&D Department tears into our new 2013 Ram 3500 Cummins to turn it into something cool. This truck has been our test mule over the last few months as we prototype new lift kits for work with the redesigned front radius arm suspension. With SEMA right around the corner we’ve installed a pre-production version of the 8” 4-link conversion long arm kit. There are a number of benefits to the radius arm-to-4Link long arm conversion including better handling characteristics and a less caster change throughout wheel travel. Additionally on this build we’ve called in some favors with friends around the industry to help turn this truck into something cool. You may have read last week’s update where we received the 40×15.50×20 Nitto Mud Grapplers, 20×10 BMF Novakanes, Diamond Eye Exhaust, and front/rear Fusion Bumpers. This week we received the Spyder Auto smoked…
