We’ve been attending the Unlimited Off Road Expo in Louisville, KY for several years and looking forward to all that event has to offer from vendor show, demos and exhibits, obstacle course and nightly parties and excursions to keep everyone entertained. When we got word they were setting up a 2nd event to be held in the Texas Motor Speedway during the winter months we jumped at the chance to get involved. This past weekend the BDS crew spent the weekend down in the Lone Star State for the first annual Unlimited Off Road Expo Lone Star Edition held in the infield of the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. BDS’s Show Season Already Underway
Each year the crew from BDS spends a fair amount of time on the road, visiting dealers and attending trade shows and trail rides across the country. Typically Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, UT is the event to kick the year off, but this year we have a pair of newcomer events from some established venues that slid in to start the year off. First up we have the Unlimited Offroad Show & Expo (Lonestar Edition) to be held in the Fort Worth, TXÂ at the Texas Motor Speedway March 11-12th. This is an expansion of the Unlimited Offroad Expo held each summer in Louisville, KY and should be a huge event welcoming vendors and 4WD enthusiasts from around the country. 2017 King of the Hammers Coverage
What a week out in the Johnson Valley, CA. KNow as teh toughest oneday race in the world, the King of the Hammers continues to grow each year as companies, competitors and spectators take over the desolate dry lakebed of for a week of racing action. From UTVs and motos, Jeeps, Toyotas and tube buggies there’s a draw for anyone into offroading as hundreds of competitors take to the course to prove they can finish the most grueling one-day offroad race in the world. This year’s main class, the 4400-class had over 120+ competitors fighting for the crown along with multiple classes (4500, 4600, 4800, etc) in the Everyman Challenge along with UTV classes and moto races. Now in its 11th year boasted hundreds of competitors racing in multiple classes and nearly 50,000 spectators out on the lakebed town known as Hammertown. Preparing for King of the Hammers 2017
For a relatively small group of offroad racers, the challenging Ultra4 racing season has led up to this point, the 11th Annual King of the Hammers (KOH) in Johnson Valley, CA. The pinnacle event for Ultra4 Racing, KOH is known as the toughest one-day offroad race on the planet. What started out as a dozen teams racing for bragging rights a little over a decade ago has evolved into so much more with 300+ teams competing in different classes, 35,000+ fans taking over the adjacent lake bed (aka Hammertown), and more than 500,000 tuning into the live feed online to watch the racing. The action takes place over the course of a week with moto, UTV, everyman and unlimited classes with qualifying and races planned for each day. BDS 4wheeling at SnoFari 2017
Over the weekend a few lucky souls from BDS loaded up and and headed north for some winter 4wheeling. Located just a few short hours north they joined up with others in West Branch, MI for SnoFari 2017, an annual winter 4wheeling event organized by the SoFO Jeep Club to welcome Jeepers and other 4WD vehicles for snow covered trail riding. The event is capped at 60 vehicle signups each year in addition to the sponsors and trail guides with each year the spots filling up quickly. From CJs to JKs, FSJs and Broncos, there’s a good mix of 4WDs at this event each year. BDS has been attending for a several years and we’ve seen our mix of deep snow with sub-zero temps some years while others see more mud than snow with temps well above freezing.
