Long Haul MegaCab Long Bed 3500 RAM | Fusion Bumpers

Fusion Long Haul - BDS SuspensionProject Long Haul: Fusion’s MegaCab Long Bed 1-Ton Ram

Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insane over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.

On display in the BDS Suspension booth taking up every bit of available space and then some was the latest creation to come from Johnny Ramirez, owner of Fusion Bumpers. BDS has been working with Fusion on a number of projects over the years and when we heard about the plans for Project Long Haul, we knew if it was up to par with any of Fusion’s other builds it would be a show stopper. Johnny was one of the first to take delivery on his 2013 Ram 3500 after preordering the new truck last year during SEMA when the new truck was originally announced. Featuring the high output 6.7L Cummins Diesel and Aisin 6-speed auto transmission this 2013 MegaCab Ram 3500 went under the knife not long after delivery getting a long list of extensive body, engine, and suspension mods.

Because a MegaCab Ram 3500 isn’t long enough, Johnny had the bed converted to the 8” long bed (MC/LB not offered by Ram). Being that the truck was on display in the BDS Booth at SEMA, we worked with Johnny to showcase a pre-production version of the BDS 8” 4-Link Long Arm Conversion Kits for 2013/2014 RAM 3500/2500 trucks with the new radius arm front suspension. The kit features progressive rate proride coils, formed upper and lower control arms, new long arm subframe and crossmembers, dual BDS/Fox 2.0 stabilizer kit, dual shock hoop and Fox 2.0 remote resi shocks. For tires and wheels Johnny opted for the 38×15.50×20 Toyo Open Country M/Ts on 20×12 BMF forged A.W.O.L. wheels. Naturally a set of front and rear stainless steel Fusion bumpers were built for the truck that showcase Rigid’s new mining lights up front and Rigid 4” E-Series lights in the rear. The original projection headlights were smoked out and custom Status Grille was made for the new 2013 grill.  To help with tire coverage EGR fender flares were added  along with Amp Research steps to make this monster a bit more accessible. The interior uses the stock leather seats, Huskeyliner floor mats while boasting a complete JL Audio system and custom billet switch plate for the the assortment of switches all built at Street To Sand Performance in Reno, NV. Out back the new fitted long bed gets attention from Bedrug carpeting, Retrax tonneau cover and Cargo Glide 2000XL (as if the truck wasn’t long enough). Under the hood the 6.7L Cummins spent time at ATS Performance where they overhauled the new motor with ATS twin turbos, ATS twin CP3 kit, ATS head studs and 5-star torque converter. From there H&S Performance worked up a custom ECM tune and Diamond Eye Performance sent a 5” DPF back stainless steel exhaust kit.

The truck debuted at SEMA 2013 and was immediately picked up for a feature in Diesel World Magazine immediately following the show. Stay tuned as Johnny and Fusion Bumper continue build Project Long Haul. Check out the photos of it on BDS’s Facebook Page.
