BDS 4” Lift Kit & Accessories

2014 Dodge Ram 3/4-ton 4WD

Coldwater, MI—December 20, 2013— BDS Suspension is proud to announce the newest edition to our full line of suspension lifts and off-road accessories, the FIRST TO MARKET BDS 4″ Suspension Lift Systems to fit 2014 RAM 2500 4WD trucks equipped with front coil sprung radius arm and rear coil sprung multi-link suspension.

In record time the engineers at BDS Suspension have developed, tested, and manufactured this latest offering for the new 3/4-ton RAM trucks. The front of this kit is designed around BDS’s unique radius arm relocation bracket that allow for simple installation while providing the strength and durability of a full replacement radius arm mount. Built from laser cut 1/4″ steel, the new relocation bracket tie into both the factory radius arm frame mount and the side of the frame rail for a rigid mount to reposition the OE radius arm for caster correction and an overall improvement to suspension geometry.

In addition to the radius arm relocation, the kit includes everything needed to properly lift the new 2014 Ram 2500 trucks to clear up to a 37″ tire. The additional height comes from a pair of specially designed progressive rate ProRide coil springs. These progressive rate coils are engineered to improve ride quality and performance across all terrains while holding up to the rigors that 3/4-ton truck owners demand. Due to the unique factory coil mount design on the new radius arm equipped trucks BDS has developed left and right side-specific coils to improve performance and eliminate coil bowing. Also up front, a heavy duty fabricated front track bar bracket, forged drop pitman arm and black e-coated brake line relocation hardware are included to reposition all steering and brake components to work with the addition ride height and allow this truck to perform flawlessly on and off-road.

New for 2014, the RAM 2500 has done away from the traditional leaf spring rear suspension in favor of a multi-link, coil spring suspension similar in design to that of the ’09-up RAM 1500 trucks. For this particular new system, the rear lift is achieved by installing a pair of heavy duty steel fabricated 2.5″ coil spacers that bolt directly on the factory coil spring axle mount to retain the ride characteristics provided by the OE coils. An axle mounted track bar relocation bracket repositions the track bar to recenter the rear axle. Rounding out this kit are a pair of extended sway bar links to keep the rear sway bar at the optimum operating angle and your choice of BDS-5500 hydraulic or Fox 2.0 performance gas shocks at all 4 corners.

Available Accessories

BDS is also offering a number of accessories to fit the new 2014 RAM 2500 trucks. Both single and dual steering stabilizer kit are available to meet your on-road and off-road performance needs. Available in both 5500-series (white body) and 9500-series (brushed stainless body) the stabilizers improve drivability by reducing front end shimmy caused by oversized tires and mount above the tie-rod for extra protection when offroad. In addition to steering stabilizers, BDS offers a heavy duty adjustable front track bar to allow you to dial in the the front axle positioning. Constructed from 1-3/8? solid steel stock this new adjustable track bar is built to handle on and off-road abuse and uses a 1-3/8″-12 fine threaded pinch bolt design turnbuckle to allow easy tuning to properly recenter the front axle for a range of lift heights. The track bar is formed for proper clearance around critical front end components and features gusseted ends for additional rigidity. The ends utilize high-durometer polyurethane bushings with thick-walled steel sleeves for strength and reliability.

All BDS kits are backed by Factory Protection Plus, a comprehensive drivetrain warranty that brings together BDS No Fine Print Warranty and a 5-year, 60,000 mile drivetrain protection coverage, included at no extra cost. For more info on the new 4″ lift kit and other options for the 2014 RAM 2500 4WD trucks, head to BDS Suspension or call (517) 279-2135.

I would never buy this kit because I don’t like level trucks. If I get a kit I want to lift the front 4″ and the back an equal or close to equal amount. Offer this kit with a 4″ front and a 3-4″ lift in the rear and you have my business.

@Jeremiah: We offer a number of rear options for our kits, you likely want the 4” rear kit (typically used in our 6” lift kit) to retain the tail high stance. For more info contact us at (517) 279-2135 or head to your local BDS dealer.

The rear coil spacer is used in this kit to retain the OE ride quality of the rear suspension along with front progressive rate coils

With this lift and 37’s what is the overall height of a 2014 ram15004x4? How would this drive vs your 6″ lift? I was going to go with the 6 because I want the 37″ tires.

Hey Don, this kit listing is for the 2014 3/4-ton truck, not the 1/2-ton Ram. We also have a 4” kit to fit the 2014 Ram 1500s, however I don’t know the overall height of the truck once lifted and tires installed. Your best bet is to measure your tuck as it sits now, add 6” plus half the difference in tire size (i.e. 37” tires – 31” stock tires = 6” difference or 3” of extra height). For more on our kit for hte 2014 Ram 1500s head to our website at http://bds-suspension.com

Doug, being that we haven’t tested that particular wheel/tire setup we can’t guarantee it would fit without any fender/bumper modification.

Hey John, we do offer 6” lifts for the new radius arm equipped 2014 RAM 2500 and 2013 RAM 3500 trucks. At this point RAM hasn’t released the ’14 3500 trucks so we haven’t been able to confirm compatibility with the new ’13 3500 kits, however I’d assume they will be the same. For more info on the kits head to the BDS website or call (517) 279-2135

With the 4″ lift what set up do you have to have to run 37″ tires. Would 37×12.50×20 fit with no rubbing and will it also have the same towing capacity as factory/ ride

Hey Matt, 37×12.50×20 can clear on the 4” lift, however it is dependent on the wheels you use. For clearance you will need to stick to our wheel size/backspacing recommendations, Otherwise our 6” lift may be a better option for you. Either way the kits are designed to offer a great ride with progressive rate coils. In the rear we offer both coil spacer to retain the factory ride quality/load capacity as well as replacement progressive rate coils to improve offroad performance. If you have any other questions on the kits and available options head on over to the BDS website or give us a call at (517) 279-2135.

What are the specs on the wheel and tire combo shown on this truck? (i.e. Tire size, wheel size/backspacing/offset)

@Colton, the truck shown was a customer’s truck running the 4” lift kit, 37×13.50×22 Nitto Mud Grapplers and 22×10 Helo HE879 wheels. You’ll have to check with Helo on the backspacing/offset specs. They were a bit outside of our recommended wheel/tires and did rub a bit with just the 4” kit.

Love the look of this truck. I have the same truck (mine is white) and I also have the same HELO wheel but in a 20×9. I may sell them and get the 22″ wheel to take advantage of the 80 PSI Nitto Ridge Grapplers (37×13.50R22LT). The backspacing on my 20x9s are 5.71 and the backspacing on the 22x10s are 4.56. You said the 37s still rubbed a bit with that 22′ wheel, can you tell me specifically where and which areas may need to be trimmed? I’m asking because I had one of your BDS dealers quote me the install for this 4″ kit and 37s and this is what he told me, “I would not do 37” tires on a 4” lift. That’s going to require a ridiculous amount of trimming and probably some body folding. I would charge you probably $400 to make them work.”. I’m just wondering what the real deal is on this.

Hi Chris, I don’t recall exactly what was needed on this particular truck as it was one of many test vehicles brought through our R&D and was built back in 2014. There was quite a bit of rubbing when used offroad due to the tire wheel combo. Ultimately we were testing a number of kits in development at that time and when this truck rolled out of the shop the final time it had the 5.5″ lift kit installed. The customer supplied the wheels/tires for this vehicle and we left the trimming up to them. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the 10″-wide (4.56″ BS) with a 37×13.50 on 4″ of lift, even at 5.5″ (gas) or 6.5″ (diesel) may still need some minor trimming to clear in all driving situations on and offroad. Take a look at our official tire/wheel recommendations listed on our website, for the 4″ kits we spec fitment of:

37×12.50 tires on 9″ wide wheels (5.625″ BS)
35×12.50 tires on 9″ wide wheels (4.5-5.625″ BS)

I have a 2014 RAM 2500, will Helo 879 20×9 rims backspace 5.71″ with +18mm offset and Dick Cepek Fun Country 37×12.50R20LT
work with no rubbing issues?

We haven’t test fit kits on the 2014 Ram 2500 Powerwagon yet, but we have had customers confirm fitment of our standard kits on the 2014 PW models. You’ll want to follow our gas truck listings for kit info, we’re currently offering a 2”, 4” and 5.5” kit for the gas RAM 2500s. More info is available on our website or you can contact us directly at (517) 279-2135

Will any of these kits work with the 2014 Ram Powerwagon. If not is there a lift being made or thought about. Any info would help. Thanks

Unfortunately we haven’t had the opportunity to personally test fitment on the 2014 RAM 2500 Powerwagon trucks, which is why it currently isn’t listed on our website. We have heard from several customers that installed BDS gas-RAM kits on the new RAM PW without issue. Contact BDS tech support for more info at (517) 279-2135 or tech@bds-suspension.com

I had Michiana Auto Pros out of Mishawaka, IN lift two 2014 Jeep Wranglers last year and they did a great job! Now I bought a 2015 Ram 2500 diesel and i plan on having them install a 4″ lift and bags in the rear just to bump up the rear a little. When i bought my truck i had the dealer put a level kit on it but i didn’t like it setting level so i ordered just the rear 4″ lift kit and i like the the way it sits, well i want it a little higher. I’m running Duratrac 325/60R20 on Vision 20×9 Furys. I had to trim the inner fender a little, no big deal. If i stick with 20×9 rims and Nitto Grapplers 37×12.5/20″ will the truck look good and have enough gap or will it look like it’s squatting or higher? You guys are leading the market in quality! I’ve bought 5 lifts in the past 4 years and everyone of them is top notch! Thank you.

Thanks for the continued support Bill. Make sure to send in photos of your rides to our customer gallery at http://bds-suspension.com/bar so we can feature them on our social media sites. On you questions about fitting 37s with the 4” lift kit, it can redone however you’ll need to follow our backspacing recommendations which calls for 20×9 with 5.625” BSing. For more on the topic and photos of the setup check out http://bds-suspension.com/product?kid=698H

i have a 2015 dodge power wagon. Would the 5.5 gas lift work for my truck I know you guys have heard of people using it with no problems. Would I be able to fit a 38×13.5x17r m/t on stock rims without rubbing issues?

Hey Kevin,
At this point we haven’t released kits for the late model Power Wagon. While the majority of the gas RAM 2500 kit will cross over to the PW, there are some difference which have not been worked out yet. The PW sits about 2″ taller than standard RAM HD so a 5.5″ coils would be about 3.5″ of lift. Based on the standard RAM HD, 38″ tires would be a bit too large with that amount of lift

First off, thanks to BDS for your customer service in response to potential consumers’ questions/concerns. Many of your competitors either give short, nonspecific responses or nothing at all. Like Kevin I have a ’15 PW and I’ve been shopping around for a 4-link conversion for quite some time. My previous PW was a 2006 model that I lifted 6″ with a non-BDS brand and the ride was great. I guess the debate I’ve had with local shops is what you actually gain when lifting a PW. These experts have tried to tell me that because of the 2 inch stock height difference that you gain an extra 2 inches over any lift you buy which I argue is only true if you utilize spacers. I believe the stock height difference is obtained simply from the longer springs of the PW but that’s just my non-FCA guess. I’m no mechanical engineer but in my mind once you replace the factory coils with whatever lift…as in the 5.5…your essentially getting a 5.5 inch lifted standard hemi-powered 2500 with all the electrical bells and whistles associated with the PW (i.e. lockers, swaybar disconnect, winch…). Essentially yes it would only be 3.5 inches taller than a standard PW but it would have the same clearance and height of the 5.5 lifted standard 2500 if I understand this whole thing correctly. To my point here…if somebody selects a 4 or 5.5 inch lift for their PW, are we still getting the same lift specs as we see on the standard 2500s? Only we’ll probably not get the articulation capability we had before the modification.

On the side. I would bet if BDS after test fitting became the first to market for 2014+ PW specific lifts, you would probably kill it. I don’t count AEV’s lift because they require customers to purchase standard-height OEM 2500 springs separately with their 3.5 inch system. But that does kind of feed my spring theory as their kit more or less converts the PW to standard to achieve their specs. As I’ve read on PW forums, this topic comes up a lot with owners with most settling for some sort of taller coils or spacers to level and trying to squeeze 37s on their rigs. Honestly, if I see BDS give an official thumbs up to PW lifts…I’ll be the first to order. I got a little wordy but thanks for reading. –ms

Hey Matt,
While there has been some consumer interest in offering kits for the 2014+ RAM 2500 PowerWagon the interest is limited compared to the standard RAM and we know there are some component differences that would need to be addressed to offer kits. Part of the problem is lack of test vehicles near us in Michigan, part of it is other high priority projects taking the lead. Your thinking is correct, the PW sits roughly 2″ taller than the standard RAM 2500 due to taller coil springs. Its not a redesigned suspension, but essentially 2″ lift coils in there now. If the 5.5″ (gas) coils were installed it would net about 3.5″ of lift. If/when we release a kit it would retain full functionality with the factory electronic disconnecting sway bar feature. That said, I’m not aware of exactly what modifications/alterations would need to be made to the RAM 2500 kits to fit on a PW, our R&D department manages the new product development projects and won’t listing compatible until we offer a complete (bolt-on) kit on the shelf available for it and company policy dictates we can’t discuss details until we’re ready to ship the kits.

You offer 4 inch here but on you’re website you’re options are 3, 6, and 8″. So is there a 4 inch for a 13 Dodge Ram 2500.?

Dedo, the RAM 2500 changed the suspension design in 2014. All 2003-2013 RAM 2500s use a factory 4-link front and leaf sprung rear. The 2014-2016 RAM 2500 comes standard with a radius arm front and a multilink coil spring rear. For the newer trucks we offer 2″, 3″, 4″, 5.5-6″, and 8″ lift options. For your 2013 RAM 2500 we offer 2″, 3″, 6″ and 8″ lift options. For more info on all the lift options for your RAM head to http://bds-suspension.com/product?kid=607H

I have a 2015 3500 RAM SRW and want to put the 6 inch lift and run 37 X 13.5. Will this clear without rubbing and if so what off set am I going to need? Any thoughts on adding something to level the truck after the lift?

Hi there RLS, thanks for your interest in BDS Suspension. We offer several lift options for the ’13-16 RAM 3500 SRW including 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″ and 8″ kits. All our kits are designed to level the stance of your truck by lifted the rear about 1.5-2″ less than the front. To fit 37×13.50 tires, the 6″ lift is fairly standard to use, however the wheels you choose effect the clearance. We list more info on specific tire/wheel recommended specs on our website (http://bds-suspension.com/product?kid=1603H). We spec 17×9/18×9/20×9/22×9 wheel with 5.625″ backspacing for proper clearance of the 37×13.50 tire. That said, other sizes and specs can be used, some trimming may be needed to eliminate any rubbing when the wheels are turned hard or used offroad.

I have a 2016 2500 ram and was looking to run a 4″ lift with 37s. I was curious what the total height of the truck would be because my garage only has 8ft high doors.

Hey Ryan, that’s not a measurement we take when developing the kit as things like true tire size, aftermarket accessories like winch bumpers and cab lights would effect it. A good estimate would be to take a measurement of the current height now, then add 4″ (for the lift), then add 1/2 the different in tire size (i.e. 33″ stock to 37″ tire will increase overall height by 2″)

I have a 2012 ram 2500, I want to put 40×13.5r17 on 17×9 -12 rims, with just a 5″ lift how much timing is needed. Thanks

Hey Jason, that will require a fair amount of fender/bumper trimming to fit the 40s on just 5″ of lift. Being that it is outside of our recommended specs and we haven’t tested that particular wheel/tire/lift setup its difficult to say exactly how much trimming will be needed and it would depend on how the truck is being used on-road only or on-road/offroad use.

Any news with the lift kits for the 2014-17 powerwagon…?
Just ordered a 2017 pw laramie..

Hi Bruce,
this particular RAM is fitted with the 4” lift kit, 37×13.50×22 Nitto Mud Grapplers and 22×10 Helo HE879 wheels. You’ll have to check with Helo on the backspacing/offset specs. They were a bit outside of our recommended wheel/tire specs and did rub a bit with just the 4” kit.

When do you think a 4″ kit will be available for 2019 3/4 ton 6.4 Hemi. Just ordered a Laramie Longhorn. It would also be nice to see an R/A kit for the gas model.

Hey Mike,
We just released the 2″ leveling kits for the 2019 RAM 2500 4WD trucks and have additional kit in the works. Long term you can expect similar kit options/sizes to what’s offered for the ’14-18 RAM 2500 trucks, however there are a number of suspension and drivetrain differences on the 2019s that will require some redesign to ensure correct functionality. Unfortunately I can’t get into expected release dates or kit specifics due to company policy about staying quiet. As soon as kits hit the shelf ready to ship we’ll be sending out announcements and adding them to our website.
