Chase Rather of CM Racing has been racing the #3747 XJ for several years in various JeepSpeed and Best in the Desert Races. Running on a BDS long arm kit the Jeep Cherokee has had it’s share of glory over the years. Following a recent competition the rig was put to the test and sad to say finally met it’s match. Here’s his recap of the XJ’s final race. At this year’s Best in the Desert Bluewater Desert Challenge, CM Racing came out looking to make a statement. We had put in weeks of preparation adjusting shocks, plumbing lines, and meticulously ensuring the 3747 Jeep was ready to run hard for front of the pack. Saturday October 15th at 6:15am, with Chase Rather driving and Britt Wolf co-driving, CM Racing left the line side by side with the leader. We set a fast pace and hung with the 3799 Jeep…

BDS is loading up the trailer and getting ready to hit the road tomorrow for Butler, PA for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival this weekend Aug. 12-14, 2011. The cruise from Michigan to Pennsylvania along I-80 has become routine with this our 3 trip this month for PA Jeeps Show, Carlisle Truck Nationals, and now The Bantam Jeep Festival. The show has all the makings to be enormous with the entire town of Butler, PA chipping in to host events, parades, demonstrations, off-road trail rides, live music, show and shine, and Jeep playground. Butler, PA if you didn’t know was the birthplace of the Jeep where back in 1940 the Bantam Car Company produced the first all purpose military vehicle back in 1940-41. Come celebrate the heritage of Jeep with us!

We pulled the BDS TJ in the shop yesterday for some steering and suspension tweeks. After 4 years, 2 Ultimate Adventures, 2 trips to Moab, and countless trailrides on the 4×4 Outback Adventure, we are proud to say our production 6.5” longarm suspension has held up to the abuse courageously. Our plan to build a very capable trail rig on a typically wheelers budget with factory Dana30/44 axles and 37” tires has been a success, outside of the occasion, ok more than occasion, u-joint break out on the trail. With the Jeep on the hoist we swapped out the wasted wheel bearings for new units and installed the newly released BDS exclusive Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks on all 4 corners. With all the R&D BDS and Fox have put into these shocks we know they perform. Now all we need is some free time to hit the trail, good thing it’s…

BDS supports the VRC: I think it’s safe to say, most of us have a soft spot for dogs. I’m not talking about Dog the Bounty Hunter or close friends we holler at “What up Dog!?”, I’m talking about the 4-legged companions that wag their tail when you come around and get excited at a game called fetch. Recently BDS Suspension had the opportunity to get involved with Tia Torres and the Villalobos Rescue Center in California. Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC), the focus of Animal Planet’s  TV show “Pit Bulls and Parolees”, offers a 2nd chance to both at life for the rescued dogs and the parolees it employs. After making the move to a larger facility up in the Tehachapi Mountains they quickly found new challenges with the mountainous terrain, which was difficult to traverse in their stock vehicles. Day-to-day activities were much more challenging as getting stuck became…

BDS President Steve Olmstead is back from his east coast trip to BDS distributor, Eastern Truck & Accessories for their 9th Annual Open House event. Each year this event grows in the number of attendance, shop size, and the amount of funds raised. As with year’s past, ETA raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a cause dear to Mike and the crew at ETA. A record $12,000 was raised over the course of the day as many came to the shop to check out the truck show, see the new showroom, eat some BBQ, and try to win some of the great raffle prizes. Following the show they held a poker run that finished at the Tiki Bar for a bite to eat, a cold beer, and to award trophies to the truck show winners. Special thanks to Mike Slater and the entire crew at Eastern Truck & Accessories…
