This past SEMA Show was one for the ages. So many cool and custom vehicles on display will several new 4x4s competing for the spotlight. Among them the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with new styling, new powertrain options and new tech throughout. When it came to building a new HD, Ernie Vole of Ernie’s ATC in Vernon Hills, IL had a concept that tweaked our interest. Rather than lifting it sky high and and running 24s or even 28s he wanted to show off the truck’s offroad prowess, keep it low and build a truck capable of bombing down a trail along the Baja peninsula. If you’ve never attended a Baja race in person then it is hard to appreciate a trophy truck flying by you at 100 miles an hour less than 10 foot away. Granted, be prepared to be pelted by dirt and rocks. I was pretty sure by the end of the race that when I got home I was going to immediately start construction on a BDS trophy truck. However, I realized that some one forgot to put it in the budget this year, not to mention the chase helicopter.
