BDS at the Outback Offroad Adventure Park
BDS loaded up the trailer and headed east for the 4th and final Outback Offroad Adventure of the 2014 season. Organized by Meridian Offroad in Butler, PA, BDS has been sponsoring this offroad park for years and uses it both for product testing as well as an opportunity to meet customers and spend some time together out on the trail. Rob and Terry from Meridian Offroad did on heck of a job organizing the event once again opening up the park for 2 days of trail rides on a mix of mild to hardcore terrain. With plenty of rain these past few weeks even the moderate trails became a challenge to navigate. The weekend camping/4wheeling trip gave us a chance to bring out some new faces, a few BDS employees without time behind the wheel of Project KJ and limited time out on the trail. Carlisle Truck Nationals Recap
This weekend marked the 23rd Annual Carlisle Truck Nationals in Carlisle, PA. While it may be a few years shy of the Silver Anniversary, the crowds made it out in droves for the event with more than 2000 trucks of all kinds, shapes and sizes with lifted, lowered, high performance, rock crawling, vintage and late model trucks out for the weekend event. Whether you’re looking to cruise the fairgrounds and the selection of rides or you’re looking for a little more high-octane entertainment, Carlisle had events for the whole family. The off-road playground hosted by Rausch Creek was a big hit among trail rigs wanting to try their hand on the dirt and rocks. The dyno machine and burnout out competition brought out the throttle junkies. Monster trucks wowed the crowds and the bikini contest was a hit as always. Jeep Nation Strong at the PA Jeep Show
The Jeep nation was strong this past weekend as 700+ Jeeps converged on York, Pennsylvania for the 18th Annual All Breeds Jeep Show. This annual event hosted by the PA Jeeps Club totes an assortment of Jeep vehicles from early Willys and restored classics, daily drivers and diesel-powered JKs. The 2-day show started Saturday morning and ran through Sunday late afternoon with numerous events to keep the whole family entertained. Many came and filled the fairgrounds to show off their Jeeps, while others came looking for a deal on some hard to find parts at the swap meet. RC Jeeps and rock piles popped up throughout the grounds while many put their Jeeps to the test by taking on the onsite obstacle course set up and managed by Rausch Creek Offroad Park staff. Bantam Jeep Fest Recap
Butler, PA, with it’s beautiful landscape and small town charm has a little secret. Well it’s not much of a secret, it’s more of a heritage; the heritage of the Jeep; the birthplace of the Jeep. Over seven decades ago when the Army requested auto manufactures develop a light weight reconnaissance vehicle to use on the battlefields during WWII. Only 2 companies stepped up to the plate one being Willys-Overland and the other being the American Bantam Car Company in Butler, PA. Bantam original won the contract, but ultimately Willys received the commission with the help of Ford to meet the military’s quota. Fast forward 70+ years and the town of Butler decides to celebrate it’s heritage by hosting a Jeep gathering. In Route to Butler, PA for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival
BDS Suspension hit the road this morning in route to Butler, PA for the 2nd Annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival. The festival takes over the town of Butler, PA as thousands gather to celebrate all that is Jeep; the people, the lifestyle, and most importantly the heritage. Back in 1940 the US Army requested auto manufacturers design a light weight 4wd reconnaissance vehicle. The Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC) was built and originally chosen, but due to unattainable production demands, the contract was given to Ford and Willys who produced over 600,000 Jeeps during WWII. The event is sure to be a great time for the whole family. Events start Friday night with the invasion of downtown Butler and continue Saturday and Sunday out at the Butler Fairgrounds.
