2.5" Leveling Kit: Starting out the 2.5" leveling kit is a good option for new Tacoma owners looking to level the stance of their truck and add up to 32" tires. These kits include of a pair of top mounted strut spacers built from 3/16" steel, fully welded and finished in a textured black powder coat. The kit is 100% bolt-on with no strut disassembly required. Mounting hardware is included. Optional accessories include a 2" rear block to restore the tail high stance as well as your choice of BDS 5500-series or FOX 2.0 gas charged shocks.
4" IFS Lift Kits: Stepping up to 4" lifts, BDS offers a complete 4" IFS system that provides everything necessary to modify the suspension and drivetrain with room for 33" tires. The kit includes a pair of laser cut 1/4" steel crossmembers along with precision machined ductile cast iron steering knuckles to maintain stock-like handling characteristics compatible with the factory ESC system. Also included is a full width belly skid plate, top mounted strut spacer to retain ride quality, differential drop brackets to correct CV and driveshaft operating angles, brake line relocation, bump stops, rear blocks, u-bolts and your choice of BDS 5500-series hydraulic or Fox 2.0 performance gas shocks specially tuned for this application.
6" IFS Lift Kits: At the heart of this 6" lift kit is a pair of ductile iron replacement steering knuckles and high clearance crossmembers. These components establish a suspension geometry that not only performs well on and off-road, but is compliant with the factory ESC systems. A multipoint differential relocation kit securely repositions the front differential to correct CV axle angle while allowing for the use of the stock front driveshaft. Front end drivetrain components are protected by the full width skid plate that ties the front and rear crossmembers together for a rigid subframe. Top mounted strut spacers are used along with preload spacers to improve handling performance. Also included in this kit are replacement bump stops, brake line brackets, and a set of 4" rear blocks and longer u-bolts to level the stance. Finishing off the kit is your choice of BDS-5500 series hydraulic or precision tuned Fox 2.0 performance gas shocks. This system allows for up to 35" tires to be installed.
6" Performance Coilover Systems: The 6" Performance System includes all the high quality components supplied in the standard 6" IFS lift kit from the high clearance cross members, ductile iron steering knuckles, multipoint diff drop brackets, full width skid plate, brake lines brackets, and rear block & u-bolt kit. In place of the front strut spacer and preload this system ups the performance with FOX factory series 2.5 remote reservoir coilovers. In the back these systems come standard with FOX 2.0 IFP gas shocks built for improved dampening, fade free performance, and a premium ride across diverse terrains. The FOX factory series 2.5 remote C/Os include:
- Smooth-bore, clear coated, zinc plated alloy body
- Black anodized 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounting components
- 7/8" hard chrome plated heat treated alloy steel shaft
- High flow piston design with specially formulated race oil
- External reservoir separates shock oil from high-pressure nitrogen
- Eibach coil springs pre-installed
- Easy bolt-on installation, coil spring preload set for proper ride height right out of the box. Right height is easily adjustable using BDS spanner tool #129600 (sold separately).
Whether you're looking for the smooth riding system for weekend trail rides or you plan to bomb through Baja, BDS offers suspension options for your 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

Just purchased 6 inch system.Cant wait to put it on next week. Will gve feedback after installation.
Did you get the lift installed yet? What tires are you running? How’s the 3.5 liter power with the bigger tires? Thanks
Any updates yet on the new system?
I’d love to get a wider rim on it. Is this possible?
Hey Sid,
our tire/wheel recommendations are just that, a recommendation. Other sizes can be used, however wider wheels or wheels with small backspacing may cause additional trimming and/or a smaller tire size should be considered to minimize interference. Aftermarket modifications like trimming, high clearance bumpers, fiberglass fenders etc will effect tire clearance as well.
Does this kit require cutting the factory cross member?
Hey Paul, the 4″ and 6″ systems do require cutting of the rear crossmember during installation which is common when lifting the Tacoma. This is due to the front differential being relocated down to keep the CV angles at a minimum with the lift installed. To allow the front driveshaft to be reconnected the center part of the rear crossmember is removed and our crossmember is bolted in place. We have detailed step-by-step instructions available at http://bds-suspension.com/instructions/028601.pdf
What happened to the FOX UCA option you use to offer with this?
Hey Lee, short answer is those were pulled off the market and will be getting re-released soon as a BDS chromoly UCA. Keep an eye out for the product announcement when they hit the shelves ready for sale.
Do they have any issues with TCS with the 6 inch lift and 35’s??
Hey Doug,
Thanks for your interest in BDS Suspension. To answer your question installing our Tacoma lift kits will not effect the factory installed traction control system.
Do the lifts maintain that factory width with the lift? Or does the track width go wider?
Hey Ben, thanks for your interest in BDS Suspension. There is zero track width change with any of our lift kits for the Toyota Tacoma
Ive heard guys using the Foc Coil Overs for the 4 inch lift kit is this true?
We don’t offer FOX coilover options for the 4″ Tacoma lift kits at this time, only for the 6″ lifts. That said the coilovers do have a threaded body and preload can be adjusted to set ride height lower. For more on the topic contact our tech support team at (517) 279-2135 or
How much money for installation for the 6 inch kit
Install pricing will depend on the shop you go with and what additional services they offer. We manufacturer the lifts and distribute through a network of dealers that are able to install them in your area. To find the dealer near you head to http://bds-suspension.com/distributor-lookup
Very interested in your kit but I am having a hard time getting over all the hate on the forums. I think drop bracket kits are smart because you retain the factory cv angles. Is the any increase in wheel travel when the coils and upper control arms are used?
Hey Eric,
In the Toyota community the drop brackets kits catch more flack for the perception more parts hang lower when in actuality the ground clearance is based on tire size and as the suspension geometry is similar to stock. If you’re planning to lift more than 3″ of lift it’s what you have to do to correct suspension/steering geometry. Our 4″ and 6″ kits are stout and designed for use on road or out on the trail. The new steering knuckles retain steering geometry and we include differential drop to correct CV axle operating angles. Our upper control arms will allow more droop travel when used with our 6″ lifts (not recommended for the 4″ kit).

Thank you very much for the reply. I used one of your BDS kits on my 07 f150 and loved it. I am going to purchase your 6 inch lift. I have one final question before I purchase. I really want the kit that comes with the Fox shocks but the budget does not allow for it. Can I purchase just the shocks from you guys later down the road and if so is it a better deal when it’s bundled in the kit? Thanks again for everything and I can’t wait to put your kit on and show everyone on YouTube how it performs.
Hey Eric,
No problem there at all. Each of our kits can be updated later on so if you want to start with the standard 6″ for now to get the taller ride height, then add the FOX shocks/coilovers, UCAs and any other accessories later on everything is available a-la-cart to do so to build it into the performance coilover system.
