SEMA Trucks: Todd’s Tundra
Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insanely built and over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.
One of the trucks grabbing attention outside was Todd Headlee’s 2013 Toyota Tundra TRD. Representing Gibson’s Metal Mulisha exhaust line this TRD sports a variety of mods to help it perform out in the open desert terrain around Southern California. Built by Go Big Truck Performance, the stock suspension was replaced with a BDS 7” Performance Series suspension featuring Fox Racing 2.5 remote coilovers up front and rear Fox 2.0 shocks. The rear features a Firestone Ride-Rite airbag system with wireless controls to keep the stance level when hauling gear and towing trailers. Under the hood the stock 5.7L gets some help from a TRD supercharger, TRD intake and Gibson metal mulisha exhaust kit. Bringing this rig to a stop are TRD big brakes at each corner. This Tundra sees its share of dirt and pavement, so Todd went with a good all around tire. 35×12.50×20 General Grabbers AT2s fit the build and were installed on a set of 20×10 DPR Offroad Tech-9 wheels.
When it comes to appearance and protection, the stock bumpers just didn’t cut it. In their place Todd upgraded to a pair of Iron Cross bumpers along with a Rigid Industries LED grill and 30” lightbar. Fender flares came from EGR and Iron Cross steps offer rocker protection while easing access inside the cab. Out back an Extang trifecta tonneau cover was installed along with rear mounted Rigids and a Kleinn HK7 train horn. Inside the cab is comfortable with plush leather and a JBL Audio system.
