Self-proclaimed “dirtheads” Fred and Dave are back with another episode of Dirt Every Day airing on the MotorTrend YouTube Channel. This time around the guys take on a FWD RAV-4 with the goal of converting it into a hardcore rock crawler the guys dubbed the RAD-4. What might seem straight forward on the surface required the guys to relocate the engine to the front passenger seat, build a cage and custom subframe install a pair of built solid axles front and rear with the help of a pair of BDS (Jeep XJ) long arm crossmembers, BDS (XJ) long arms, BDS builder joints, FOX 2.5 remote coilovers, full hydraulic steering and a set of 35s. Every 2 weeks, host Fred Williams a self proclaim hoarder of used 4×4 parts and vehicles comes up with something to build, wheel, or offroad event to check out. This week Fred’s Dirt Every Day episode was a reunion of the DirtHeads, an offroad club with 2 members consisting of himself and Dave Chappelle where the guys bought mini trucks to got 4wheeling. Fred’s truck was a 1972 Ford Courier converted over to 4WD. In place of the sketchy front mounted lift blocks Fred opted for a set BDS leaf springs. to give him the lift he was looking for able to take the abuse he had planned for the mini truck.
