This past weekend OK 4WD held their Fall annual, the OKtober Truckfest bringing out hundreds for a day of hanging out at their Stewartsville, NJ shop. The shop and adjacent grounds were filled to max capacity with a wide array of customer rides, show trucks, and aftermarket vendors as Jim and the crew from OK 4WD organized one heck of an event. Trophies were handed out for multiple vehicle classes and a live band kept that party going all day long. Many came hungry and left happy as the local volunteer fire department manned the grill with food for the masses. BDS was on hand for the event showing off our newest release 6” High Clearance Kit on a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and talking to customers and offering up show specials.

Kudos to Jim and the OK 4WD crew for once again putting on a great event. If you’re in the area its worth checking out. Check out some of the photos from this year’s event and for more, head to BDS’s Facebook Page.

We’re on the road constantly, between heading to shows around the country, hauling rigs to our favorite wheeling spots, and event heading out to meet our dealers to get some face-to-face time at their shops. Recently BDS Chris Lytle (North Central Territory Sales Rep) and Anthony Steele (Mountain Territory Sales Rep) hit the road in the BDS 2014 GMC 1500 with the BDS Project KJ in tow. Their journey started out at our home offices in Coldwater, MI and ended out in Cali for Off-Road Expo. Here’s Chris’s recap of the trip:

The trip started with a stop at D-N-R Racing in Morris, IL. Don and his crew have a nice shop they work out of adjacent to his home. After a quick tour and nice conversation we jumped back on the road and headed to DK 4WD Moline, IL where we were able to meet up with the owner Dave and check out his shop. Dave is an enthusiast that mixes his client projects with personal wrenching projects. From there we made our way to Marion, IA to see Marion 4wd and stopped off at Performance Concepts as well. Performance had a great shop, showroom, and crew all managed by Steve, their fearless leader. After some time spent at the shop it was back on the road in the BDS rigs to check out Total Truck in Des Moines, IA.

It’s great to stop in and see our customers, the guys we talk to on a daily basis and have built a relationship with over the last few months. While I wish I could have stopped at other dealers along the way, we’ve got a tight deadline looming over us to make it out in time for Off-Road Expo in California.

-Chris Lytle (N. Central Territory Sales Rep)

Once out of Iowa Anthony took over navigating duties as he made a number of stops in route to the west coast. Here’s Anthony’s recap of the trip:

The first stop on my part of the road trip was Ultimate Truck Accessories in Omaha, NE. We’ve been doing business with Scott and his crew for a number of years and made sure to stop by and see Matt, Don, and Eric. From there we made our way to St. Paul, NE the next morning to meet with Heather and Nick at Hardcore 4×4. They’ve been BDS customers for a long time and welcomed our impromptu visit. From there we made our way to Englewood, CO to see the guys from High Country Performance 4X4. Eric, John, Jason, Chris and Brandon manned the showroom and install bays. The crew stayed almost 3 hours after closing time to chat with us and check out the ’14 GMC and Project KJ. The following morning we woke up in Colorado Springs, CO to a beautiful mountain view with our trip to Predator 4WD.  After stopping to chat with Jerry and Craig we hit the road for the long haul to Albuquerque, NM to see Ron at A-One Equipment. After a good conversation and some time spent laying under a truck we headed on to AirAid where we dropped off our the ’14 GMC and Project KJ for the BDS Reps Jason and Mike to jump in and continue the west coast dealer stops in route to Off-Road Expo in Pomona, CA…

July 31st, 2013: BDS Suspension FMVSS No.126 Compliant

compliant-badgeIn an effort to reduce the risk of rollover crashes the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) established the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 126 requiring all new passenger vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR include an electronic stability control (ESC) system as standard equipment. FMVSS No. 126 tests new vehicle ESC systems through a series of evasive lane-change maneuvers at highway speeds to ensure the driver can maintain control in critical driving situations. Effective August 2012 this law requires aftermarket products to be compliant with these same standards.

With the new requirements in place, SEMA reached out to aftermarket manufacturers to test kit compliance of products. The initial investment to test compliance is large, so many companies have chosen to self certify their products without any formal engineering analysis. BDS Suspension, however, has been on the industry forefront by working towards independent verification of all applicable suspension kits to show compliance with the new standards.

This accomplishment is just a small representation of the large investment by the BDS Suspension team to produce the safest and highest quality product on the market today. For additional information on this and other quality products available log on to our website at bds-suspension.com. BDS Suspension is a division of Sport Truck USA Inc.

BDS Ram 2500 Long Arm Kit Install in Off-Road Magazine

BDS’s 6” and 8” Long Arm Kits for the late model (’03-12) Ram 2500/3500s has been a popular kit since its redesign a few years back. The stout upper/lower 4-link brackets create a solid mount for the new longer control arms. The kits come complete with a variety of options from multishocks and rear leaf springs, to Fox 2.0 shock upgrades and soon to be a heavy duty adjustable track bar. The fellas over at Off-Road Magazine took the time to document the install of the BDS 6” long arm kit that was getting installed at BDS distributor Off-Road Power Products. Check out the article and watch the payoff as they launch the truck.

BDS Suspension made it down to Bristol, TN for the 2nd Annual RPM Offroad Open House which turned out once again to be a great success. With beautiful weather and the slate of activities planned the crew from RPM had something fun for the whole family. From dozens of race trucks out on display to live dyno testing out in front of the shop the horsepower junkies were kept appeased. Hundreds made their way out to the shop for the day taking advantage of special deals and to get an inside look at the shop. Around the shop were  multiple race trucks including the checkered flag winning Baja 500 truck that was driven by RPM Owner Justin Matney and the Baja 1000 winning truck that was driven by Juan Carlos Lopez. bullhide12This past weekend BDS Rep Ted Yearling made the trip out to Fort Collins, CO for Bullhide 4×4‘s Open House. We love the opportunity to get out of the office and check out what our BDS distributors are up to around the country. Scott Butters from Bullhide 4×4 runs great operation and does a tremendous job supporting the community in and around Fort Collins. When we got the invite to come for the event we jumped at the chance to hang out and support our dealer and talk to customers.

The crew from Bullhide 4×4 put on a great show with a number of vendors on site, local 4×4 clubs hanging out and special offers all day long. WIth great weather all day, attendance was up and many customers came by to ask questions, sharing stories, and stopping by to show off their trucks and Jeeps. A great show and great people, Ted had a blast meeting customers and hanging out with the Bullhide staff. Thanks again for the hospitality.
