Coldwater, MI: Now available for the 2019 model year RAM 1500 4WD trucks BDS Suspension has released complete 4” IFS lift systems. Based around the tried and true high clearance technology that has made BDS the go to for RAM suspension lifts, these systems have been designed from the ground up to get more out of your new RAM. This new 4” lift system joins BDS’s existing 6” IFS Systems and 6” Coilover Systems to offer a new lift height designed for on road comfort, off-road capability and clearance for 35" tires. Kits are designed, tested, and manufactured right here in the USA offering superior quality to other kits on the market.

At the heart of this new 4” system BDS utilizes a pair of 1/4" thick laser cut high clearance crossmembers to maximize clearance and provide a solid mounting point for the OE lower control arms. These paired with the heavy duty front skid plate system create a rigid subframe while adding protection for vital steering and driveline components. In place of the factory steering knuckles a pair of specially designed ductile iron replacement steering knuckles are supplied to maintain proper steering geometry for ESC system compatibility. These connect to the factory steering with a pair of heavy duty replacement tie rod ends included in the kit. The front differential is repositioned with BDS’s multipoint relocation bracket system to secure the front differential and keep CV axle angles at a minimum.  A billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer is also supplied along with longer hardware to allow the reinstallation of the factory driveshaft. Additional ride height on this particular kit comes from a set of top mounted steel fabricated strut spacers to maintain ride quality and handling characteristics. Rounding out the front of this kit are a pair of stainless steel braided extended brake line and sway bar relocation brackets.

In the rear of this 4” lift system the factory coil springs are replaced with 3” ProRide coil springs to level the stance. With the additional ride height the rear suspension geometry is corrected with control arm relocation brackets, a bolt-on rear track bar relocation bracket to recenter the axle, extended length sway bar links to correct operating angle, and bump stop extensions to properly limit up travel. The rear of these kits are rounded out with your choice of specially tuned NX2 nitro series gas shocks or FOX 2.0 IFP performance series gas shocks to offer improved damper performance. All kits come finished in a durable textured black powdercoat and sent with all hardware packs to complete the install along with step-by-step installation instructions. All BDS kits include Factory Protection Plus for the ultimate extended warranty to include BDS’s No Fine Print Warranty, ESC System compatibility and a 5year-100mile drivetrain warranty to match the dealer. Improve the curb appeal and capability of your 2019 RAM 1500 truck with this new 4” lift system from BDS Suspension.

While we don’t expect any changes for the 2020 model RAM 1500, at this point we haven’t had a truck in to test fit and confirm compatibility to add the listing to our site

Carter,

When does BDS plan to test fit this kit for the 2020? Are there any updates for this effort?

Hey Jake, while we don’t expect any changes from 2019 to 2020 model RAM 1500 trucks w/ air ride, as a policy we don’t officially “approve” fitment until we’ve had the opportunity to test fit in house. The 2020 RAM 1500 w/ Air Ride is on the list of vehicles our engineering is sourcing for test fitment, however I don’t know the current status. As soon as kits are approved/available for purchase we’ll be promoting on our website and through dealers.

What is the best tire & wheel set up on the 4in Lift Kit? I have a 2019 RAM 1500 Limited. I am looking to get 20×9.5 6/139.7 ET-18 CB112.1. will this fit?

Hi Rashid,
see the recommended wheel/tire specs listed above on the release, while we recommend a 35×12.50 tires on 20×9 wheels with 5″ backspacing for optimal clearance, you shouldn’t have issues fitting 35×12.50 tires on 20×9.5 wheels with -18mm offset (aka 4.5″ backspacing). That said those wheels are outside of our official listings and so there is the potential that minor fender trimming may be necessary to ensure tire clearance in all driving situations (i.e. on-road and off-road use).

You’re looking right at 270lbs for the entire RAM 1500 4″ lift kit packaged up

Carter I have a 2020 ram rebel with the 6″ BDS lift with Fox shock upgrade, tires are Nitto Ridge Grappler LT325/60 R20 with 20 x 12 Fuel wheels. I am experiencing an issue of the drive shaft rubbing the factory fuel tank skid plate when making a right turn onto an incline. I did not have this issue prior to installing the lift and tires , is BDS aware of this issue and is there a recommended repair to eliminate the driveshaft rubbing the skidplate.

Hey Jerry, I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing an issue. While its not a issue I have heard of up to this point, technical/customer service topics are funneled to those departments for assistance rather than myself in marketing. Assuming everything is installed properly you have 2 options, contact our tech support dept at (517) 279-2135 / tech-bds@ridefox.com for assistance or head to you local BDS distributor so they can look into the issue.

Is the shortened front drive shaft the only reason BDS does not approve fitment of the 2019 4″ BDS Lift for the 2020 Ram1500 EcoDiesel with air ride? If so, whoever corners this niche market for a lift that will work on that truck will be a game changer.

So, my first time looking to a lift, 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4×4 currently sitting on 275/65R18’s. I plan to move up to 35″, but I’m new enough to not fully understand the cautionary notes about the tires above. Am I generally OK to look into the BDS 4″ lift?

Hey Lars, thanks for reaching out and congrats on the truck. The new RAM 1500 is an awesome truck right out the gate, but a lift kit and some larger tires will improve the look and offroad capability while maintaining on road comfort and performance. First question, is your truck equipped with the factory “air ride” adjustable or the standard strut/coil spring suspension. We offer a kit in either case, just need to know which direction to point you 4″ Air Ride Lift Kit or 4″ Standard Lift Kit. In general the 4″ lift kit is ideal to fit a 35×12.50 tire when used with an aftermarket wheel that meets our recommendations.

You will not be able to reinstall your factory wheels as the larger backspacing measurement on those wheels will have an interference issue with the steering components once lifted. You can either add wheel spacers to achieve our recommended backspacing measurement with the factory wheels or use an aftermarket wheel with the correct backspacing. If you have questions with this our sales team is available to assist, as well as your local BDS distributor who would be happy to put together a complete package for you. I have a ram 2014 1500 and I am looking to buy new rims. These caught my eye, but it is a 6 lug pattern instead of 5. I am also going to get a 6 inch lift kit. I was wondering if I were to get adapters for these rims, would it mess anything up putting the lift kit on? Thank you.

Where do I find the asanti cleavers that will fit the bolt pattern on my truck already? Also If i were to get 35″ MT tires would it rub with a 4″ lift? If so are there any 6″ lifts that would cost under or around a grand? Thank you so much.

Hey Caleb, we’re a suspension manufacturer. For info on where to buy that wheel you’ll want to contact Asanti to find one of their dealers. That wheel is a bit wider than we spec for optimal clearance with the 4″ lift kit. That said it can be used, you may need to trim the lower corners of the wheelwells slightly to clear a 35″ tire in all driving situations (on/off road use). A 6″ lift kit would be a safer bet to clear that tire/wheel combo without any need for trimming. For more on all of our available lift kit sizes and options for your 2014 RAM 1500 4WD head to https://bds-suspension.com/product?kid=671H

Does this kit allow youto put fox coil overs in the front as other websites allow you to add but i didnt see the option to add front coilovers from fox on yals website

Hey James,
At this time we’re not offering a preset coilover option for the 4″ lift height on the RAM 1500s, only the 6″ lift height. That said these coilovers do use a threaded body so by adjusting the preload position there is some flexibility with the final ride height to set ride height lower. For more on that topic contact our sales/tech support team at (517) 279-2135 or by email at sales-bds@ridefox.com

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 big horn 4×4 crew cab. It has 20×9 rems with 275/55R20 Tires. If I put your 4″ lift kit on my truck, will my tires and rems still fit without any problems.

Hi Larry, you will be able to reinstall the factory 20″ wheels+tires on your RAM with our 4″ lift kit. That said the factory (32″) 275/55r20 tire/ 20×9 wheel combo are a bit small to fill out the fender opening on these trucks as the 4″ allows clearance for up to 35″ tires. We do not recommended larger (wider) tires on the factory wheels due to steering clearance issues unless you opt for wheel spacers.

If I purchase the 4” or 6” lift for my 2019 ram 1500 Laramie (new body) would I need to change anything else in my front end like CV axles or steering components ?

Hey Erik,
Short answer is no, nothing additional is needed. We design our kits to be complete with all necessary components included. In the case of the late model RAM 1500 kits our 4″/6″ kits include replacement steering knuckles that allow you to retain the factory steering rack and tie rod assemble while maintaining ESC System compatibility. We also include differential relocation brackets to correct the positioning of the from axle to maintain OE-like CV operating angles to allow use of the factory CV axles.

Hi Phillip, you’ll want to follow the 20″ wheel specs listed (35×12.50 Tires on 22×9 Wheels w/ 5″ backspacing)

I am looking into this lift for my 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel. For warranty purposes, is it required to have install done by an authorized shop or does it allow for self installation? Also, do you offer a veterans discount on your products?

Hey Jason,
First off thank you for your service to this country. We do offer military discounts as do most of our dealers. You can contact our sales team directly to request the discount. On the warranty topic, we do not require you use an authorized shop to validate our product warranty, you are welcome to install the kit yourself.

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 full four door 4×4 and I love my truck but I hate the front lower than the back, I thought of getting the level kit and the information on it said it would handle 35″ tires but to me it looks to me they would rub, so I think I may go with a 4″ lift and run my stock wheels 17″ wheels with 35″ tires and run spacers, can you tell me if I can do that and if so please let me know and recommend the one I need and thanks and God bless, James

Hey James,
35s on stock wheels with a 2″ leveling kit is a tight fit and will likely rub, officially our recommendation is 33×12.50 tires with that setup.

On the 4″ lift kits, there is a clearance issue with stock 17s due to repositioned steering knuckle tie rod mount to allow ESC system compatibility. The work around would be adding wheel spacers to achieve 4.5″ backspacing with the stock 17s.
