SEMA Trucks: PK’s Duramax
Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insane over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.
BDS has teamed up with Powerteq on a number of projects over the years and this is one of their latest creations, a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax owner by PK Krwawecz. The build has been coming together piece by piece over the last year as PK started with a plain jane HD that now features a slew of mods in the performance, comfort and styling categories.
Up front the stock flimsy chrome bumper was pulled and in its place a beefy Fusion bumper that houses an assortment of Rigid LED lights. The stock grill was swapped for a custom mesh grill from Royalty Core. A BDS 6.5” high clearance lift kit with Fox 2.0 shocks provides extra clearance for 37×12.50×20 Mickey Thompson ATZ P3s on 20×10 American Force shields. To help turn the larger tire mass the stock gears were swapped out for a set of 4.56 Yukons along with EBC rotors and pads to help improve stopping power. For a clean look and easy access, a set of Amp Research steps were fitted. Inside the truck maintains a clean appearance with black leather seats and Pioneer head unit. Digital Designs subs and speakers were installed throughout the cab and outside to get the party going anywhere he goes. The 6.6L Duramax has plenty of power right from the factory, but that didn’t stop PK from installing a Superchips tuner and Edge CTS monitor, Airdog 165 lift pump, Airaid cold air intake, and a 5” MBRP stainless exhaust system. Out back the bed has a bedrug liner and Undercover flex tonneau cover. A rear Fusion bumper mounts addition Rigid lights and in place of the stock spare tire resides a pair of Zenith air compressors and (2) 5-gallon tanks that power Nathan P5 train horns. Just like train horns, the graphics weren’t left very tame either with a custom carbon fiber flame with blue/black vinyl wrap was designed and installed by Stickerdude Designs for a menacing appearance.
