Last week the calm of the desert gave way to the roar of pre-running for the infamous King of the Hammers race in Johnson Valley, CA. Amidst the flurry of race prepping a lurking beast emerged from the silt in expert form: the KOH Edition Bronco. This special-edition Bronco combines Ford engineering with the latest from FOX Factory, BDS Suspension and JKS Manufacturing and was brought out to the desert by the one and only 3-time "king" himself Jason Scherer.
In the off-road world, Jason needs little introduction. Raised in Northern California, he’s spent the past two decades building and racing a long list of vehicles ranging from rock-crawling Jeeps to tube-chassis Broncos. This three-time KOH champion has numerous accolades to his name and he knows not only how to drive, but how to set up a well rounded offroad vehicle.
Jason is a long time FOX athlete so with all his seat time he knew the clear choice was the new FOX 2.5 Performance Elite (PE) coil-overs to keep this vehicle under control and soak up the rough stuff, be it rock trails or open desert running. Pairing with the FOX Jason turned to BDS for a slew of suspension upgrades build for strength and durability backed by the No Fine Print Warranty. From there add in armor, recovery, styling cues and aggressive set of tires/wheels and just like that, the 2023 KOH Edition Bronco was born.

Up front, FOX 2.5 Performance Elite coil-overs pair with BDS upper control arms. The arms are engineered to take full advantage of additional travel while adding low-maintenance strength and durability. The factory steering wasn’t left to chance either; it was outfitted with the JKS steering sleeve upgrades that were designed for trail abuse.
In the rear, 2.5 Performance Elites pair with BDS adjustable lower control arms and an adjustable track bar. Both offer additional strength while keeping the rear axle in position. The control arms are built from heavy wall tubing and utilize rubber bushings for quiet, maintenance-free operation.
It wouldn’t be a capable off-road rig without protection. The front and rear bumpers are trail-ready, along with full belly skid plates. The JKS max tire clearance kit helps create space up front for the 37-inch BFG KM3 Mud Terrain tires on 17" Vision wheels. The JKS front and rear skid plates were added for additional rock deflection to help keep the control arms and shocks from whatever you encounter out on the trail.
Form meets function on the KOH Edition.
