Project KJ, From Soccer Mom to Trail Rig
Here at BDS, we build, test, and wheel our rigs to make so we can be confident they’ll survive the abuse our customers put them through and back them with the only no fine print warranty in the business. We’ve built a number of company vehicles and are constantly developing new and innovative kits for popular truck and Jeep vehicles.
We are proud to be a part of the 2013 Ultimate Adventure, the week-long on/off-road excursion hosted by the guys over at 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine. After attending years ago in our company Jeep TJ, we’ve learned a bit more about building a rig that will not only perform well, but stand out from the numerous TJs, JKs, and XJs that attend each year. We discussed a number of different vehicle options, from the ever popular JK, to the J10 Gladiator, Chevy Colorado. All had potential, but ultimately had flaws for various reasons. In wanting to challenge ourselves, we thought let’s build something different, an oddball of sorts, something that isn’t typically celebrated as a capable trail rig but has the potential to be. After months of discussion and pondering ideas, the decision was made to build a Jeep Liberty KJ.

Both the 4″ and 6″ lift kits feature a pair of one-piece, 1/4″ steel, laser cut high-clearance crossmembers and heavy duty differential skid plate creating a solid subframe for improved ground clearance. The new extended steering knuckles feature repositioned steering mounts for optimal steering angles and improving ball joint operating angles. Silverado Mud Drag Truck | Ben Wandahsega
Taking home the Super Stock Championship crown for 2012, Ben Wandahsega continues to impress racing at 3 Fires Off-Road Park and other events within the U.P. Mud Drag Association. The ’12 Silverado bodied, ’78 Blazer chassis is powered by a 410c.i. 730hp motor, ATD Turbo 400 tranny, and 205 Kodiac t-case. Built Dana 44/12-Bolt axles running 4.56 Motive Gears with Ten Factory chromoly shafts put the power to the ground and a set of 4” BDS leaf springs and Fox Racing shocks allow clearance for 38” Boggers to clear the Boatec fiberglass body. Great Time at Off-Road Expo!
Off-Road Expo 2012 One of the largest off-road trade show around was this past weekend in Pomona, CA. BDS made the trip westward to setup and show off some of our latest kit offerings and pair of cool show trucks. Each year the show continues to grow as new truck and off-raod enthusiasts make it to the Pomona Fairplex for this festival of the four wheeler (and 2-wheelers). BDS Reps, Mike Maloney and Jason Shellhaas hung out in the booth talking to customers and answering questions. For booth vehicles, BDS had a 4th Gen Ram 2500 running the BDS 8” Long Arm with all the bells and whistles along with a standard cab/short bed GMC 1500 running the BDS 6” Performance Coilover Series Suspension. Thanks to everyone that stopped by the booth, this year was once again a great Off-Road Expo for us. We’ll see you next year… To check…
