25 Rigs Under the Gun for the Ultimate Adventure
Right now 25 rigs are under the gun in preparation for the 2014 Ultimate Adventure (UA). With a mix of invited readers, event sponsors, event cronies and magazine staffers all in the scramble to finish up their builds, there is just 2 weeks until the group hits the road from all corners of the states and beyond to rendezvous at the secret start location for this year’s trip. The chatter online has revealed this year’s crop of rigs in various points of disarray from a PowerWagon that was just cut in half to a Blazer getting built from the ground up and numerous rigs in the test and tune stage. There are certain requirements for building a UA rig. They include a lockers, a roll cage, at least 35” tires, a full size spare, CB radio, winch and recovery points. Beyond that everyone uses their creativity to customize a rig for the trip. You’ll see…
Ultimate Adventure 2014 Prep Underway- Project KJ
BDS Suspension is the official suspension of the 2014 Ultimate Adventure (UA), a week long, 1000+ mile offroad trail ride/back road journey hosted by 4Wheel & Offroad Magazine each year. We’ve been lucky enough to sponsor the event over the years, wheeling all corners of this great country building the type of friendships one can only make after 7 days spent without showers out 4wheeling, camping, and wrenching together. With roughly 25 vehicles in attendance, one perk of sponsoring the trip is one of the coveted spots to bring a trail rig to drive. Attendees include the event sponsors, magazine reps, camera crew and a half dozen hand-picked magazine readers in everything from JKs to flattys, Scouts to Blazers, PowerWagons and Tacos. Representing BDS this year we’ll have Dave Devormer from our engineering department and myself, Carter Reed from the marketing department taking on the UA in a 2005 Jeep Liberty Diesel. In…
Moab Mayhem TJ Build on Dirt Every Day
If you’re a fan of last minute, crunch time builds like we are, then the latest episode of Dirt Every Day is right up your alley. In the episode titled “Mayhem to Moab” 4Wheel & Offroad Magazine’s editor Fred Williams buys a plain jane TJ nicknamed “tubesock” and in less than 2 weeks turned it into a capable trail rig to wheel out in Moab, UT for the 49th annual Easter Jeep Safari. The Jeep was outfitted with a long list of mods to include a BDS long arm kit with Fox shocks, Chris Durham Motorsports hood, Poison Spyder armor, Currie axles, ARB lockers, Pitbull tires and more. Watch as Fred and a few buddies take on the Mayhem to Moab challenge and build this TJ into a capable little rock crawler. Watch the video on YouTube at Mayhem to Moab
BDS shows at the 2014 Lima 4Wheel Jamboree
The crew from BDS Suspension loaded up and headed southeast for the Lima 4Wheel Jamboree Nationals last weekend. This year marked the 29th annual jamboree held out at the Allen Country Fairgrounds in Lima, OH. Despite some rain in the forecast their was a great turnout as thousands made their way in town for the show. Everything from lifted Jeeps to polished show rigs, diesel mud boggers and daily drivers. We were on site all weekend to take part in all the action and set up a booth along vendor row. Project Slate, our 2013 RAM 3500 was on display along with Project KJ, our 2005 Liberty diesel. Jimmy K. made the long trip to Lima in his bad ass BDS equipped F150, dubbed Project Sinister. The booth was flooded all weekend long with show-goers checking out the rigs and asking questions. A big thanks to Jimmy for bringing his F150…
