Stubby made the cover of FourWheeler!
I you haven’t heard about Stubby over the past few months, here’s your chance to get the lowdown on this radical standard cab, short bed F350 that debuted at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas in the BDS booth. As Ken Brubaker puts it “…in the BDS booth, only having Taylor Swift sign autographs would’ve probably generated more buzz.” Â This 2001 F350 sports 8.5” of BDS suspension, Dual Fox 2.0s at all four corners, fiberglass fenders and 44” boggers. Stubby made the cover of the May issue of FourWheeler Magazine and has a great 4-page spread on the truck. 50th Annual Tierra Del Sol this weekend!
Not many events and/or off-road clubs can say they are celebrating their 50th annual gathering. But this weekend, in the Ocotillo Wells SRVA in southern California the Tierra Del Sol 4WD Club out of San Diego will be doing just that, as the host the 50th Annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari. The event is scheduled for March 2-4 at the Ocotillo Wels SRVA, between Borrego Springs and Salton Sea. Over the years the vehicles have changed, people have come and gone, and the venue has moved. Now in its 50th year, the event is well organized with on site obstacle park and  trail rides, product demonstrations, on site vendor show, and one of the largest raffles of any off-road event.  Last year over $155,000 in raffle items were collectively given away. King of the Hammers 2012 Recap
King of the Hammers 2012 is a wrap, and BDS Rep Jason Shellhaas made it back from the west coast with plenty of stories to tell… “Well another King of the Hammers (KOH) has come and gone, and with it, a new champion has been crowned. Congrats to Eric Miller on bringing home the crown this year. 2012 marked the 6th running of KOH out in the Johnson Valley SRVA, and BDS Suspension’s first trip out to the lakebed to witness the spectacle first hand. Over the years since its inception, this event has exploded in popularity as big budget builds and backyard creations compete head-to-head on a growling course of wide open desert racing and extreme rock crawling. It’s 9 days of mayhem stuffed full of UTV racing, an invite-only motorcycle race that included running Backdoor downhill, and the first ever Everyman Challenge, which allowed basically stock Jeeps to take…
King of the Hammers Tomorrow!
The event that started just a few short years ago and took the off-road racing industry by storm is in full swing out in Johnson Valley, CA. Over the past week the desolate lakebed has been transformed into Hammertown as 50,000+ set up camp for this new class of endurance racing. King of the Hammers brings together high speed desert racing with extreme rock crawling as teams compete for the coveted crown and bragging right for the coming year. Competition is intense with a mix of corporately sponsored teams and professional driver’s out on the course. This yearcompetition expanded this year with the addition of classes for UTV, Moto, and the Everyman’s Challenge allowing everyday trail rigs to compete head to head. Stubby (the orange F350) made it in Off-Road Magazine
Stubby, the monsterous single cab, short bed bright orange F350 made it in the March 2012 issue of Off-Road Magazine on newsstands now. On display in the BDS Suspension booth at SEMA this past November this truck was hard to miss running the bright orange paintjob, fiberglass fenders, colormatched drivetrain, and 44” Boggers. Built by Rok Industry, this truck gets a double take everywhere it goes, look for more on this truck in upcoming magazine issues and out at select events in 2012.
KOH just days away…
The 2012Â King of the Hammers is just days away… The event that started the revolution in off-road racing starts this Friday, February 3, with a week long of racing activities in Johnson Valley, CA. Hammertown is the destination as tens of thousands head into the desert to hang out and watch Jeeps, trucks, UTVs, and motos compete in classes throughout the week leading up to the main event on Friday, February 10, as the KOH prepped buggies compete in a mix of high speed desert and hardcore rock crawling to be crowned the King of the Hammers. Team Desert Concepts have been busy prepping their IFS buggy #4454 for competition.
