This rig, better known as The General, is our 2012 Ford Super Duty. This rig has been one of the hardest working trucks in our fleet. From towing our rigs, to wheeling the trails, to roaring through the town, this rig does the job, and it does it well.

We recently took this rig out on a fall colors trip around our home state of Michigan. We started off by driving from Coldwater MI, to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, where this rig ripped through the sand like it owned the place. This rig also pulled quite a few people out who got stuck. After a day at the dunes, we went up the coast do check out the tunnel of trees, the Mackinac Bridge, and then found a motel up in the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) to rest before a fun day out on the trails.  The next day was filled with two tracks, mud, and some beautiful fall colors. This rig ripped through the trails with ease. Check out the full recap from the [Off] Road-Trip Adventure here.

As you can see, we are still enjoying every adventure with this rig, even after all these years. Where should we take it next?

SEMA Trucks: Diamond Eye’s F150

Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insane over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.

The crew from Diamond Eye Performance always show up at SEMA with great looking trucks, from monster diesels to performance gassers. This year they continued that trend with trucks throughout the show and a gorgeous 2012 Ford F150 Ecoboost on display in their booth. The truck is owned by Dennis Olson of Diamond Eye and features a number of cool mods and go fast goodies.

This truck sports a BDS 6” Performance System with Fox 2.5 remote coilovers and Fox 2.0 rear shocks. Tires came from Toyo and are 35×12.50×20 open country M/Ts. For wheels, a set of 20×10 BMF novakanes were installed. Up front a spraylined Fusion bumper was installed along with Rigid LED lights. The stock grill and headlights were swapped for a BMF black mesh grill and Anzo u-bar headlights. Amp Research retractable steps were installed to make access a breeze and a roof mounted 50” Rigid e-series combo light bar brightens up the night. Out back an ARE overland series bed cap was installed for every dry storage and a Yakima megawarrior roof rack was mounted with even more Rigids for 360-degree perimeter lighting. Under the hood the stock 3.5L Ecoboost was given some extra attention from an Injen cold air intake, SCT/Street-to-Sand performance tuning, and a Diamond Eye Performance 4” stainless exhaust system. See more of the truck on Facebook.

SEMA Trucks: Seaside’s No Limitz Super Duty

Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insane over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make quite the statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.

One of the trucks that was hard to miss out at the 2013 SEMA Show was this black/lime green 2012 Ford F250 Super Duty owned by Tim and Danielle Wing of Seaside Muffler & Off-Road in Seaside, OR. The project was dubbed No Limitz” and features a ton of cool aftermarket products.

Sticking with the factory tuxedo black paint, the stock bumpers were swapped out for a set of colormatched Road Armors that house an assortment of Rigid LED lights. Recon smoke projection CCFL headlights and a Rigid LED grill with 30” lightbar to illuminate the road. Up top a 50” Rigid E-Series lightbar is mounted using  SoCal Super Trucks mounts. For the extra altitude, Seaside turned to BDS Suspension going with an 8” 4-link long arm kit with dual shock hoop and Fox 2.0 shocks. A set of custom build traction bar were fabbed up and everything was powdercoated with a 2 stage shocker yellow over heavy silver color. Mag Hytec diff/tranny covers and a BDS dual steering stabilizer round out the underside of this truck. For wheels and tires, 37×13.50×22 Toyo M/Ts where mounted up on 22×14 American Force Evade 8s which also received a touch of the green. With the lift installed, a set of Amp Research steps were installed for a clean out of the way appearance and easy accessibility into the truck. The interior was kept fairly stock and features black leather seats, upgraded stereo and an H&S gauge display. Out back the truck is running BDS 8” full springs and Fox 2.0 shocks. The bed is stray-lined and has an Extang E-Max flex tonneau cover, Amp Bed Step and Bed XTender. Turning those 37s the 6.7L Powerstroke got some attention in the form of an AirAid intake, H&S Mini Maxx tuner, and Flo Pro 5” stainless steel exhaust kit. Definitely a great looking Super Duty built by the crew at Seaside Muffler and Off-Road. To check out more on this truck, head to the BDS Facebook Page.

2007-2013 Chevy/GMC 1/2-ton 2wd/4WD Fox 2.5″ Remote Reservoir Coil-over Lift Kits

Coldwater, MI—September 4, 2012—The late model 2007-2013 GM 1/2-ton trucks have proven themselves as a worthy replacement to the torsion bar configured predecessor. BDS Suspension continues to offer suspension lift options for both and is proud to announce the latest release, Fox Racing coil-over performance suspension systems for the 2007-2013 trucks.

After more than a year of development and testing, BDS Suspension and Fox Racing have dialed in this system to take the newer Silverado/Sierra 1500 trucks to a new level of performance. This new 6″ high clearance performance system is built to take on the open desert, sand dunes, or whatever terrain you throw at it while retaining the on road mannerisms that late-model truck owners have come to expect. Take your truck to a whole new level with BDS Suspension and Fox Racing Shox.

The Fox Racing 2.5″ remote reservoir coil-overs feature:

  • Smooth-bore, clear coated, zinc plated alloy body
  • Black anodized 6061-T6 billet aluminum mounting components
  • 7/8″ hard chrome plated heat treated alloy steel shaft
  • High flow piston design with specially formulated race oil
  • External reservoir separates shock oil from high-pressure nitrogen
  • Easy bolt-on installation, coil spring preload set for proper ride height right out of the box.
These new coil-overs are available as an upgrade for current BDS GM 1/2-ton lift kits or as a complete 6″ performance suspension system. Matched with a pair of Fox 2.0 rear shocks, these coil-overs drastically improve the ride and performance of your BDS lifted Chevy/GMC truck. Installation is a breeze with the coil-overs coming pre-tuned to offer proper ride height right out of the box with brackets included to mount the remote reservoir.

BDS’s unique high clearance suspension design is a true blend of performance, function, and appearance. Suspension geometry of this 6″ lift kit creates a factory style ride. The black powdercoated high arched crossmembers blend perfectly with the angle of the factory installed lower control arms for a completely integrated look while providing a full 6″ of lift and increasing ground clearance at the front crossmember by 91%.

Also included are a pair of stout CNC-machined ductile iron steering knuckles to work with factory ESP, differential drop brackets and heavy duty skid plate, bump stop extensions, replacement rear block kit, front Fox Racing 2.5″ remote reservoir coil-overs, rear Fox 2.0 performance shocks, and all the necessary hardware to properly lift your truck. Take your late model GM truck to a whole new level with BDS Suspension and Fox Racing Shox.
