Don Fenton and his crew at Off Road Outlaw Fabrication in Lexington, NC came to the 2017 SEMA Show to make a statement. They’ve built some cool builds in the past, but they pulled out all of the stops on this 2017 Ford F350 Super Duty Dually Diesel. Among the laundry list of mods this truck features a BDS 8″ 4-Link DSC Coilover System with BDS dual stabilizers and Recoil traction bars, Magnum uFit bumpers-grille-steps, and 40″ Toyo M/Ts on 22″ Mayhem wheels. After a couple months designing, cutting, building and modifying the truck was delivered to Butler Auto Body to get painted and the suspension parts were sent to powdercoat. At first there is a weird sense of anxiety and relief as the build is out of our hands at the moment and in the capable hands of Butler Auto Body to lay down some color. When we last left off BDS’s Project Ascension had just been finished up and BDS’s Nate gave a walk around of the truck in the studio before we loaded it up in the rain and headed West for the cross country road trip in route to Las Vegas forth 2016 SEMA Show. Packed full of displays, new products, and promotional materials this 2017 Ford Super Duty had a date with destiny where it was slated to debut in the BDS booth #30204 at SEMA. We hit the road Wednesday night to push through the night for the first leg of our 30hr haul out to Vegas. The truck road amazing despite all the gear loaded in the bed and backseat and the canvas top kept everything dry for the drive out. The countdown is on, just a few short weeks until the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and we’ve got a long wayto go building Project Ascension, our new 2017 Ford Super Duty. With tons of aftermarket components still in route to the shop the focus this week was prototyping the new suspension, after all this truck is a test truck for us. For this truck the plan is to build a suspension system ready to hit the trail while still comfortable on the road. For that we’re building a 6″ 4-Link Conversion System for this truck along with FOX DSC Coilover Upgrade, FOX shocks and stabilizers, along with RECOIL traction bars. While there are some similarities between the 2005-2016 and the 2017, the bulk of the suspension is a redesign to achieve optimal suspension geometry and performance.
