3" Coilover Lift System: These kits use FOX 2.0 performance series IFP coilovers for bolt-in upgrade to the factory strut assemblies for improve damper performance across all terrains. Also supplied as part of these complete 3" lift system are a pair of BDS performance series upper control arms (UCA). These UCAs improve suspension travel and while providing superior strength and styling to the factory arms. These arms are built from 1.5" OD heavy wall tubing, fully welded with integrated support gussets. They include brake line mounting tabs and use an indexed ball joint cup to correct ball joint positioning back to the neutral position at ride height. The BDS arms come fully assembled with OE-style rubber bushings for the frame mounts and a high-quality MOOG ball joint for smooth, quiet operation and better durability than arms that use heims and uniballs. 1" front differential spacers and longer hardware is supplied to reposition the front differential to keep CV axle angles at a minimum. In the rear, BDS supplies a set of heavy duty shackles. These shackles provide 1" of lift to level the stance and include grade 8 installation hardware. Rounding out the rear of this 3" coilover system are a pair of specially tuned FOX 2.0 performance series IFP shocks designed to pair with the front coilovers for impressive performance on and offroad. and allow clearance for 33" tires under Tundra.

4.5" Lift Kit: This complete 4.5" IFS w/ strut mount lift kit system incorperates the same features, technology, and performance-based design as our popular 07-15 system. This system is not only built for daily driving, but will handle about any off road excursion you can think of. The heavy duty main crossmembers are locked together by a full belly pan that offers superior off road protection.

Included with this IFS lift kit are CNC machined steering knuckles which ensure a clean and simple install that is made easier by the lower strut mounts that don't require you to disassemble the strut. Rear NX² series shock absorbers are included with 9500 series gas shocks available as an upgrade for this 4.5" Toyota Tundra lift kit

4.5" Coilover Lift System: BDS Suspension offers a sterling lineup of high quality suspension lift kits for the Toyota Tundra, including 4.5" performance coilover systems designed for vastly improved offroad performance while providing a smooth, comfortable ride on pavement. BDS Performance Coilover Systems build on the proven high clearance design of the 4.5" and 7" BDS suspension systems, offered with FOX 2.5 remote coilovers pre-tuned for optimal performance right out of the box, and the option to upgrade to DSC (dual speed compression - more info below) equipped coilovers. These 4.5" systems integrate flawlessly with the new electronic stability control (ESC) systems and allow enough clearance for 35" tires to be installed.

The complete system includes everything needed to turn your stock Tundra into a trail monster. Up front a pair of high strength, one-piece crossmember built from 1/4" steel are supplied along with the heavy duty full width belly skid plate to create an extremely rigid subframe to position the suspension and drivetrain components. A pair of CNC-machined ductile iron steering knuckles dwarf the factory units and reposition the steering mount to compensate for the lift. The FOX 2.5 remote reservoir coilovers come pre-tuned with Eibach coils to provide a great ride and provide 4.5" of lift right out of the box. Also included are frame mounted brackets for the remote reservoir, bump stop extensions, differential relocation brackets, weld-in frame reinforcement plates, longer swaybar links, alignment cam bolts, and heavy duty tie rod ends to round out the front of this kit. In the rear, 3" rear lift blocks and longer u-bolts are used to achieve a level to slightly tail high stance. Brake line extensions and precision tuned FOX 2.0 IFP rear shocks round out the system and giving clearance for 35" tires to be installed.

7" Lift Kit: This complete 7" IFS w/ strut mount lift kit system incorporates the same features and performance benefits of our 07-15 Tundra system. Designed for more than just daily driving, this system will handle about any off road excursion you can think of. The heavy duty main crossmembers are locked together by a full belly pan that offers superior off road protection.

Included with this IFS lift kit are CNC machined steering knuckles which ensure a clean and simple install. The lift is achieved with lower strut mounts and a stuft preload spacer. Rear NX² series shock absorbers are included with Fox 2.0 series gas shocks available as an upgrade for this 7" Toyota Tundra lift kit.

7" Coilover Lift System: This system utilizes BDS proven design standards including one-piece front & rear crossmembers coupled with precision machined ductile cast iron steering knuckles. The steering knuckles are designed to work within the factory traction control constraints and provide stock-like handling characteristics. The knuckles are also considerably more robust in both the mass and strength categories over the rather light-duty stock components.

The BDS High Clearance crossmembers are built from 1/4" laser cut steel and maximize ground clearance and strength. The relocated differential is protected by a skid plate tying the crossmemember together. The system also includes new sway bar links to correct the sway bar geometry.

The rear of the kit comes all the components necessary to level the truck and center the axle in the wheel well. This includes a 4" block, u-bolts and brake line relocation brackets. BDS by Fox 2.0 series rear shocks come standard in this system.

Nothing complements this BDS Suspension better than the race proven design of Fox 2.5" remote reservoir coil-over front shocks. These have been specifically engineered to fit the BDS Suspension system and feature an external reservoir for increased oil cooling capacity and nitrogen volume for a more consistent and comfortable ride. These have also been pre-set by BDS to the correct ride height for an easy installation, but can also be fined tuned to your liking.

silverbullet-2Its the nature of the beast, project trucks are never complete, they are constantly evolving, being upgraded, and fit the latest trends. Case in point, Tim Grachen’s 2012 Toyota Tundra. We’ve been following this build for a few years watching the transformation into what it is today and even doing a feature on it back in 2013. Dubbed the Silver Bullet Tundra this truck is ready for an offroad adventure with a number of purpose built mods.

The Silver Bullet has a menacing look and aggressive stance thanks in part to a BDS 7” Performance Coilover System featuring Fox 2.5 remote coilovers and Total Chaos upper control arms. In the rear a Hellwig sway bar was installed along with Fox 2.0 shocks, 1” BDS shackles, and Firestone airbags to support the extra weight when this truck is loaded down for an adventure. For tires and wheels, Tim opted for a set of 37×13.50×20 Nitto Trail Grapplers mounted up on 20×10 KMC XD Series Heists. R1Concepts drilled and slotted rotors were installed to improve stopping power and Bushwacker pocketstyle flares were fitted next and give extra coverage for the oversized tires. Up front the truck was outfitted with a pair of Cali Retrofits colormatched headlights with FXR projectors, TRS HIDs and blue demon eyes. The stock front bumper was swapped out for a Rhino-lined Iron Cross unit with Rigged Ridge winch and a Factor 55 prolink. The custom grille came from Forged Industries and integrates (3) 4.5” Vision X cannon lights. Up top a roof mounted NBQ Motorsports rack was installed for extra storage along with more Vision X 4.5” cannons to help light up the trail when Tim is charging through the open desert. All the LED lights and other electronics are powered by a pair of Odyssey extreme series batteries and controlled through a sPod box under the hood. Out back the bed is lined by Bed Rug and features a Decked storage system capped off by a Snugtop XTR shell. Spyder Auto smoked LED taillights were swapped in along with Spyder Industries big has recovery hook and Vision X reverse lights. Additionally a ViAir onboard air system was added to supply air for the bags, air up tires and run tools.

Cab access on this Tundra is made easier by a set of Iron Cross steps and inside the truck is transformed using Roadwire leather/suede seats, Huskyliner floormats, US Speedo stainless steel gauges and lighting, Kenwood head unit and Vibe Audio sound system. A Bully Dog GT T+ monitor is dash mounted and hints retunes the stock 5.7L V8. Additionally, the motor received add-ons from an S&B cold air intake, Doug Thorley short tube headers, and a Gibson metal mulisha exhaust system.

Tim’s Silver Bullet 2.0 is a great examples of a trail prepped adventure truck ready for anything. For more on this rig head to BDS’s Facebook Page or check out Project Silver Bullet on Instagram.

ShaneDorian-1

We love to hear back from customers, finding out where they explore and how they use their BDS-equipped rides. We take pride in helping make your rides more capable and see what you can do with them. A few months back, pro surfer Shane Dorian picked up a new 2014 Toyota Tundra and outfitted it with a BDS 7” high clearance lift kit, 35” Nitto trail grapplers, 20” Monster wheels, Bushwacker flares. Living on the big island of Hawaii, Shane is constantly in pursuit of monster swells and his truck helps him get to many of remote locals off the beaten path. Shane sent in a few photos from his recent adventures along with this message:

“I am loving the suspension on my Tundra. I’ve been on a tear the last couple of months since the lift was done- everything from camping in the mountains to accessing remote surf spots. Where I live in Hawaii there are so many incredible hidden gems, but unless you have some serious clearance on your 4X4 you’ll never get to see them. My BDS 7″ lift is perfect for what I use my truck for, and the ride is great. It handles gnarly terrain like a champ.” -Shane

Project Trucks: Tim’s Tundra aka the Silver Bullet

Each year the SEMA Show is flooded with amazing automobiles, lifted trucks, lower street rods, resto-mod classics and late model monsters all in the name of automotive customization. There’s something for everyone’s taste from the insanely built and over-the-top to capable daily drivers. BDS Suspension attends this annual show out in Las Vegas and continues to make a statement with show vehicles scattered throughout the show grounds on display in exhibitor booths and featured vehicle spots.

One of the trucks on display that we’ve been trying to catch up with to feature is Tim Grachen’s stunning 2012 Toyota Tundra, he dubbed the Silver Bullet. The truck features a slew of mods to improve the stance, appearance, and performance making this one bad ass truck.

Up front the Silver Bullet received Cali Retrofits colormatched headlights with FXR projectors, TRS HIDs and blue demon eyes. The stock chrome bumpers and grille shell were painted silver to match and a T-Rex x-metal mesh grille insert set off the front of this Tundra. The elevated stance comes from a BDS 7” Performance Coilover System featuring Fox 2.5 remote coilvers for the ultimate on/off-road performance. A Hellwig rear sway bar was installed to stiffen up the rear along with Fox 2.0 shocks for improved offroad dampening. For tires, Tim went with 37×13.50 Toyo M/Ts and mounted them on a set of 20×10 KMC XD Series Heists. R1Concepts drilled and slotted rotors were installed to improve stopping power and EGR bolt style flares were fitted next and give extra coverage for the oversized tires. Up top a roof mounted NBQ Motorsports rack was installed for extra storage along with Vision X 4.5” LED lighting to improve trail visibility when Tim is charging through the open desert. Out back the bed was lined by Bedrug and capped off by an Undercover LUX tonneau cover. Spyder Auto smoked LED taillights were swapped in along with Spyder Industries big haas recovery hook and Vision X reverse lights. Go Rhino steps were fitted to make cab access easier and inside the truck was transformed using Roadwire leather/suede seats, Huskyliner floormats, LED gauges and lighting, Kenwood head unit and Vibe Audio sound system. A Bully Dog GT T+ monitor is dash mounted and hints retunes the stock 5.7L V8. Additionally, the motor received add-ons from an S&B cold air intake, Doug Thorley short tube headers, and a  Gibson metal mulisha exhaust system.

Tim’s Silver Bullet Tundra is a great example of clean and capable rig built to be right at home on the street or trail. For more on this rig head to BDS’s Facebook Page or check out Project Silver Bullet on Instagram.
