Performance Upper Control Arm Kits

BDS Suspension is now offering several heavy duty upper control arm (UCA) kits for popular applications designed to work with most stock and lifted truck and SUV applications. These new performance UCAs are designed for improved strength, great looks, and increased suspension travel out of your ride.

These new performance control arms are built from high strength 1.5″ OD x .120-wall tubing, gusseted for strength and durability. They use an indexed ball joint cup to correct the ball joint positioning for leveled or lifted applications and are compatible with most kits on the market. The frame mounting ends feature durometer-specific rubber bushings to isolate road vibrations for service free operation while at the other end they use an indexed ball joint cup and premium greasable MOOG-brand ball joints. This combination offers smooth, quiet operation and superior durability when compared to arms that feature uniballs, poly bushings or heims. These control arms come finished in a durable semi-gloss black powder coat and include an anodized aluminum machined ball joint dust cap. Also integrated is are mounting tabs for the factory brake lines so there’s no need to zip tie the lines as is the case with other kits on the market. All control arms come fully assembled for easy install right out of the box compatible with most leveling and lift kits on the market to increase wheel travel. Hi Carey, while we do offer the (#121250) UCA Kit for the ’11-18 Chevy/GMC HD trucks, they are designed to be used in combination with the LCAs in our coilover conversion systems to correctly position the suspension geometry. They are not recommended for use with standard (non-coilover) lift systems.

Any chance in the future you’ll offer the UCA for stock and leveled trucks (non-coilover) kits?

We have additional UCA kits in the works for a variety of applications, unfortunately company policy dictates I can’t get into kit specifics and expected release dates. As kits hit the shelves ready to ship we’ll be adding them to our website and begin promoting.

Hi Carey, nothing to report on UCAs for the ’11+ GM 2500HD trucks. The only ones we offer currently are designed for use with the LCAs as part of the coilover conversion.

It’s noted at the bottom that it’s “Not recommended for BDS 4-4.5? lift kits”. Does that include the BDS 4” Coil-over suspension system?

Hello Jonathan,
the note about “not recommended for BDS 4.5″ kits” would include the 4.5″ coilover systems as well. Reason being the UCAs use an indexed ball joint cup designed to reposition the ball joint back in the neutral position when used with a leveling kit. Our 4.5″ and 7″ kits share base components that reposition the geometry, in the case of the 4.5″ kit the ball joint operating angle is similar to stock and the 7″ is positioned like a leveling kit. While they can be installed with 4.5″ its not recommended and will limit up travel due to the operating angle.

I didn’t see if you have anything for the 02-05 Dodge ram 1500. I’m looking for a UCA for a leveled 04 1500, and I really can’t find anything on the internet for it. Can you please at least recommend something for me, I’m not too worried about price.

Thanks for reaching out, ’02-05 RAM 1500 are somewhat limited unfortunately. With it being Dodge’s first IFS RAM and that suspension only being used for 4 years the aftermarket (us included) focus more of the later model trucks being the the bulk of the suspension has been unchanged since 2009 and the UCAs being compatible from 2006 and up. Unfortunately due to limited aftermarket interest we have stopped production on all of our 2002-2005 RAM 1500 lift kits and accessories

why does no one offer upgraded uppers for crown Victoria?
running a 3 inch lift on my 2009 vic and need different uppers

Sorry Virgil, not exactly an application we get a lot of calls on so not one we’re going to invest the resources in developing.

Can we get the upper control arms in custom color, if not how about having them shipped without the ball joint or bushing pressed in so local shops can powder coat them?

Hey Sam, We only offer the control arms fully assembled on the finished goods side and don’t offer custom colors. Your local dealer would be able to order the raw assemblies directly through us as a special order item.

Our UCAs are designed specific to our kits, but will work with most lift/leveling kits on the market. They are designed as a direct replacement for the OE arm to be used in situations where the upper ball joints are operating at a more angle than stock (ie a leveling kit or taller lifts) and use an indexed ball joint cup to improve operating angle.
