Project Trucks: Rok-Tek’s Cummins powered Excursion
At first glance it looks like a lifted late model 2011+ Ford Excursion, but then you remember Ford axed these behemoths back in 2005. Then you hear that rattle of a 24 valve Cumins from beneath the hood and realize there’s more than meets the eye with this matte gun metal gray 2001 Ford Excursion. Dreamt up by Brian and Rachelle Arnold from Rok-Tek in Oregon City, OR this build came together from a need for a true family “excursion” vehicle with room for the whole family and gear. Project Trucks: Tim’s Silver Bullet Tundra 2.0
Its the nature of the beast, project trucks are never complete, they are constantly evolving, being upgraded, and fit the latest trends. Case in point, Tim Grachen’s 2012 Toyota Tundra. We’ve been following this build for a few years watching the transformation into what it is today and even doing a feature on it back in 2013. Dubbed the Silver Bullet Tundra this truck is ready for an offroad adventure with a number of purpose built mods. The Silver Bullet has a menacing look and aggressive stance thanks in part to a BDS 7” Performance Coilover System featuring Fox 2.5 remote coilovers and Total Chaos upper control arms. In the rear a Hellwig sway bar was installed along with Fox 2.0 shocks, 1” BDS shackles, and Firestone airbags to support the extra weight when this truck is loaded down for an adventure. Project Trucks: Seaside’s Obsessed RAM
We’ll admit it, we’re obsessed with it. Dreamt up by the masterminds at Seaside Muffler & Offroad this gorgeous 2012 RAM 3500 commands respect for the craftsmanship and is a show stopper every time it goes out. Dubbed Project “Obsessed”, Tim and Danielle Wing put their heart and soul into this build transforming this run of the mill Megacab RAM into the monster it is today within a short 2-month timeline to debut it at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Using a clean silver/purple color scheme throughout the build this truck has several styling and performance upgrades including Road Armor stealth bumpers, Royalty Core grille, Plain N Simple headlights and a plethora of tastefully installed Rigid LEDs in the bumper, headlights, and up on the windshield. Typically the story goes a guy (or gal) buys a new truck from the dealership and heads to their local accessory shop to get it outfitted to meet their needs and desires. A few manufacturer including BDS Suspension began including OE-compatible drivetrain warranties for peace of mind for those looking to lift newer vehicles and feared abandoning the factory warranties. Kelly Fromm is no stranger to project vehicles. Over the years he has built several highly regarded cars and trucks that carry the theme of military appreciation. Kelly, now retired from the US Army spent several years serving this country and has taken a lead to help out and give back to our military veterans. He began the Rev-It-Up for Wounded Warriors Memorial Tour, a rolling tribute to those that have served in our armed forces. If you follow BDS online or are into the Tundra aftermarket chances are you’ve seen the Daley Visual Blue Chrome Tundra. It’s a show stopping truck that breaks necks everywhere it goes.
